chiefie: Cool cool... got the TelstraClear Digital TV service.
And yes... what DMC said is correct, it's the el cheapo sibling of all other ADB digital decorder.
Anyway... jedmeister, what does aquilatech said to you? do they actually have it in stock? I am very interested to get it here and would like to have it soonest if possible... can't handle multiple remotes anymore!!! (LOL)
Oh, i also found out that there are some TV card that support DVB-T, is that what TelstraClear's Digital decoder classified as? what's the difference between the normal TV card that used to be so widely available, and today's digital tv card??? I got lost with these technology!
DVB-T is digital terrestial TV (ie digital TV through a normal tv aerial not satellite). It doesn't yet exist in NZ but has been trialled in Auckland. It is very common in Europe, Australia and the UK and a receiver will cost as little as about NZ$100. Nothing seems to be happening fast in NZ.
In regards to the cable modem issue, the cable modem rental is effectively built into your $199 installation fee. I have been told the modem is a different model to the existing Motorola Surfboards and cannot be used for the internet as it uses a different headend on the network.
