I must admit many of yous in the forums have excited me in finally changing to the T-box. Got a phone call today about it. Correct me if I'm wrong "Chiefie" but the price for the second is an extra $10 per month?
2 T-boxes for $25? Does that mean the HD ticket $10 refers to both T-Boxes. Ive got telesales ringing me on Monday on my final decision.

Has anyone had one of these installed in their bedroom? If so, how noisy is it in the middle of the night when it's deathly silent in the house?

Can you it be put into standby (from the remote), so that hard drive shuts down and stops spinning?

Hi Sub. Do you know if this will work with gbpvr?  I know it's a PVR itself but sometimes I want to take the recordings I make and move them elsewhere or view elsewhere which the T-Box won't allow I presume.

So most of the times I would record using the T-Box but sometimes capture its composite or s-video out and record using gbpvr. So gbpvr needs to be able to remote control the unit via an IR blaster (I use the USB-UIRT).

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

@Sub, there's hint of hard drive clicking, even when it's on standby. The noise is noticably lower than our ticking clock, but not enough to annoy us.

There's "standby" button on the remote, it is a unclosed-circle with line through the top gap (on-standby symbol), as oppose to full circle and line within it (that's on-off symbol).

@lchiu7, you cannot move the content stored/recorded on the HDD. You will have to use component/composite/s-video output to re-record them via video capture device. You may have to teach the remote control key functions, and script macro to "navigate" through the menus as if you're using it physically through remote control.

I dont know. I'm just gonna get one out of curiousity. I wont be trying to capture recordings from it with GBPVR.

Thats a bugger. I had a media player with a very quiet-ish fan and it was too loud for me in the bedroom. I guess I'll see tomorrow when it's installed. I so hope I cant hear it across the room.

@Sub, to be honest, you won't notice it's there... unless you are one of those with super sensitive bionic ears??

I might do what Chiefie suggests. That is record on the T-Box and those recordings I want to move off, just feed them into gbpvr and my PVR250 to capture them to MPEG2. Since it's only the SD stuff I won't be losing quality and HD stuff I can continue to record using gbpvr and the DVB-T card.

Just got off the phone to TC rep.

Second T-Box decoder for $10 includes all features for primary decoder, including same extra channels, and HD ticket (i.e. only pay Sky Sport subs + HD Ticket subs once).

Plus the new pricing for their triple package deals (for those of us fortunate enough to be in the residential cable zones) makes it very attractive.

As Chefie mentioned install is free (for both decoders of course) up until Oct 31st.

Plus the rep is also adding a sweetener to the deal...

Now, just to figure out how much the termination fee is for the remaining term on the MySkyHDi contract.

What's the sweetener you're getting?? I didn't get any sweetener at all :-( (unless Zaptor is the new TV/HomeMedia service subscriber?)

Hmmm... perhaps it was unwise of me to mention it Embarassed

It's not a massive thing, but, it's certainly a deal breaker taking into account the MySkyHDi termination fee, which is calculated at $300 - (<number of months already paid> x $25), so for me it'd be $75 (as I've paid for 9 months worth already).
Having said that, it "saves" me over $270 for the remaining 3 months which I can use towards the TC triple package.

Well I thought Telstra Clear had finally got their act sorted. YEA RIGHT.

Telstra booked  my T-Box install for last Friday morning.  They rang and left a message on my answer phone at 12 to ring back to confirm the install for Friday morning. My Wife rang back at 1215 to say it was alright to do the install and they said they would ring back when they were on their way to install it.

As she hadn't heard from the them by 2.00 she rang them back only to be told that it was to late and they  couldn't intstall it untill Wednesday between 0930 and 1230.

I took this morning off to be there for the install and the got a call from the tech at 1200 saying he was on the way. 1220 he turned up disconnected all of the old equipment and de-provisioned the old modem.

Telstra couldn't provison the new modem for the T-Box and he couldn't get a answer from Telstra as to when they could.

He then went away and did a couple of uninstalls came back and still couldn't re-provison the new modem. He went away again and has just come back @ 500ish and still can't provision it. He reconnected my old box but couldn't set up the EPG as the old modem had been de-provisioned.

The tech installer told me that Telstra will ring me when they have it sorted and to arrange another time for the re-provisioning of my modem so they can setup my T-Box.

So far I've wasted a days leave, still have my standad set-top box with no EPG and are going to have to take more time off to hopefully have my T-Box installed.

The tech was great and I have no problems with him and I am so glad I am not a tech installer for Telstra. They must get so frustrated with all the problems beyond their control and they are the people on the coal face dealing face to face with the customers.

I am giving Telstra until the end of this week to sort the issues out or the only job they will be doing here is another uninstall and the Sky tech will be doing the install.

I have waited patiently for over 2 years for their PVR and this is the final straw, its looking more like farwell to Telstra hello Sky everyday now.

Come on Telstra sort your act out, luckily for them their TV support isn't taken into consideration for the best internet provider awards!!!!!!

Someone else mentioned they're getting 3 (or was it 6) months of Sky Sports HD free, all due being new TV subscriber for triple-play.

I'm an existing triple-play customer so there's nothing "more" to entice me :-( Though they could've given me 3 months Sky Sports, or Rialto channel...

There are definitely teething problem as it IS very new for Downer Engineering to do a large scale installation, very very high demand. From the technicians that came and did our installation last Saturday, they were busy-as! And provisioning devices are quite a bit of a mess. And the T-Boxes will need to get its update on first boot-up and that takes about 10mins (and few reboots).

It IS well worth the wait if you have been a TCL TV customer using analogue/ADB STB. At least it is now catching up to MySkyHDi, and it has its unique potential.

You might be frustrated but there are many others waiting to get their installation as well.
