T-Box Bug Fix Request - Stuttering

Ive noticed quite often after changing channels the program freezes for about 5-10 seconds and then stutters into life. Has been quite annoying at times as it doesnt resume from the point it freezes at :|

+ 1 from me also.

I have to say after having used the T-Box for a week now, I am not impressed with it as it currently is.

The picture stops and stutters, it's very slow to respond to the remote control, and it takes an unreasonable amount of time to change channel.  These are just the main problems off the top of my head - I could go on.

For the length of time it took to release, and the amount of testing that supposedly went into it, this is a very poor result.

"I have a backfeed on both the TBox and on the old digital box. This goes from the composite output (I use 3 different outputs on the Tbox via some tweaking) to a wee box and then to something in the roof which then means any tv can tune in via analogue channels and find each boxes output. Im sure it has some pretty technical name for the box behind the tv but it has composite in, is powered and then rf out to the bit in the roof."

Thanks for the info - I'll check it out.

That'd be my biggest complaint too. It's way too slow moving around in the tv guide and changing channels.

Agree with the stuttering issue. I also managed to freeze up my box at least 3 x by pressing other buttons while waiting for programs to load from the planner - had to power off and on again. I will pass it on to TCL & learn my lesson.

Do you mean changing up and down channels or going direct to a channel? You'll get much better performance typing in the three digits to switch to a channel as otherwise the T-Box needs to wait to make sure that you don't have anything else to input...

I mean from when I press the CH+/- buttons on the remote, or type the third digital of a channel number (ie 014), it takes an unreasonable amount of time before you get audio/video from the new channel. (I'm not typing '14' and leaving for it to timeout waiting for an extra digit to be pressed)

I'm 100% sure its not going to happen, but they'd ideally need to trim off about 1.5-2.0 seconds to take down to about 2.0-2.5 seconds for a channel change. This is approximately how long MySky takes. It makes me miss the old analog days when channel changes took half a second or so....

Also, pressing a key in the tv guide takes about a second before you see anything change on the screen. About half a second quicker would be nice. I'm making do with the +24hr and pageup/down buttons instead of arrow keys, but its still painfully slow.

zoom23: Two things I noticed that are missing are:

The 'zoom' option.  You could get this by hitting the options button and changing the aspect ratio.  This was useful for when they showed 4:3 programs.

The RF out isn't strong enough to drive a long cable.  We were using this to send the output to the TV in the bedroom. I guess i'll have to think of something else there.  Anyone have any ideas (other than renting another decoder)?

I use the composite output from the Tbox into a VCR (old school!), and then RF from that to a splitter, which drives several TVs around the house

I think it would be useful to be able to use the T-Box as a standard PVR.  The current EPG functionality seems to be limited with no visibility out beyond 7 days, and tonight nothing available after midnight tonight.  This means that the t-Box is somewhat limited in functionality.

I'm seeing this too. I notice it several times a day.

Absolutely.  Not just when changing channels.  Just watching a channel and then it'd freeze for about 5-10 seconds - very annoying.

Yes the stut....

                          ...tering is very annoying.

Given the time from first announcing this device to releasing it, Telstra could not have failed to identify that this problem occurs and - judging from the responses here - is very common. Did they think the customers wouldn't notice??

Another request - the ability to stop a recording.  A couple of nights ago I was recording the rugby and the netball with a buffer.  The netball (not the buffer bit) had finished so I wanted to record a different program but could not "stop" one of the two recordings.  I do not really want to turn off the buffer as I did miss the end of a program previoulsy as it ran over the guide time.

Think this makes sense....
