13 April is the day TelstraClear ADSL residential slobs get upgraded to the new speeds - without having to call up which is nice I suppose. Business customers get upgraded immediately as per full page adverts in the paper.

with TCL ADSL, do you need to have all billing with TCL? like phone connection and adsl/isp connection? or do you still pay telecom for phone and adsl, then isp with tcl?

how does TCL adsl charges work?

You need to sign up to landline and direct dial tolls also. I suppose it keeps things simpler with just one monthly bill.

A flat monthly fee i.e. no difference to Telecom ADSL charging. Free modem and connection, but 12 month lock-in and $100 cancellation fee. Their plans are of the throttled variety which I prefer to extra charge above cap.

Be aware that TelstraClear only offer a subset of the Telecom plans. If you specifically want a Telecom only plan on TelstraClear, sign up to the plan on Telecom and then switch to TelstraClear. I don't know why, but Telecom appear to be obliged to continue making internet plans available to switching customers. However if you're a Telecom customer for less than 12 months then they could sting you with cancellation charges.

(But is anyone seriously thinking of locking themselves into anything for 12 months now that the Telecom Freedom plan is pending? At least wait until Telecom cancel it due to overexpression of interest! Smile)

lol... they learnt from $10 text to be pretty clear with what you are doing, and to either put an end date on it (as a 'promo') or leave it going... They have also capped it from the start. (sorry, OT)

antoniosk:
You can't (easily) migrate mobile numbers yet from Voda to TCL, but if you're OK with an 029 number then no problem...

Got a call from TelstraClear regarding my query for migrating my Vodafone account over to TelstraClear. And the guy (i think it's Jason?) said he'll send out the authorative form for me to complete and they will check and see what's the next step may be.

I did asked him upon completion, and if the ball gets rolling, will I be able to keep the same prefix (021), and he said yes that is possible, the one change that will be is the billing will be from TCL, instead of Vodafone NZ.

so we'll see, I will be waiting for the forms to come in mail, and need to return the form together with a Vodafone bill.

Mmmm... I think i'm enjoying TCL's services so far... next is I hope landline number portability will be available for us cable users. :-D

If you take a business rental you get portability included. The only problem then is you have to pay for all local calls!

hmmm maybe that isn't too bad of an idea actually, we mainly have telecom landline because we have people calling us, but we hardly make any call out.

can one move from residential to business rental? what is the rental like, do you know? i may even able to get it on as my business communication.

I believe it's around $47.95 per month. You would probably have to switch to a business cable plan as well however! :-)

I have received the authoritive forms to transfer our 2 Vodafone NZ accounts over to TelstraClear. Let's hope the process is not too hard, one thing that worries me is that we're on You Choose 20, and from TCL's site, they don't have You Choose plan available. :-S

hmmm...

Anyhow, we got the forms filled, included a photocopied account summary from our vodafone bills, and written a letter stating which TCL account we want the accounts to migrate to (optional).

And off to the post tomorrow. :-D

Next will be, what can one do to keep same (telecom) number on TCL cable... you reckon business line will be able to do that? i don't mind paying business rate if i know how much it will be and how the call charges work.

chiefie: but there's no business cable plan...

They do but they have never been listed on their site.

We have cable at work, I rung TCL last week to ask what new cable plans they had now that they had cheaper cable and business ADSL plans and was told new plans would be available this week and the old plans had been removed from the system.
