RBI shows 3 more cabinets in Martinborough, 2 in Q4 2012 and another not scheduled until 2015.

Just tested again: Palmy is fastest at 3.23.

I don't think that there are any cabinets other than the one you mention (and I am not even sure where that one is!).

It is very arbitrary and completely ignores all the major vineyards and other businesses along Puruatanga, Todds and Hinakura.

Believe it or not we are even classed as 'rural delivery' for our post despite it being a 3 minute drive to the town centre!

Way past time they stopped measuring these things in such 20th century ways. Lord knows what it will be like when iCloud appears - it will probably take all night to sync a new machine at this rate!

And Virgin are testing 1.5 Gigabit/second connections in London now....!

Of course - 11 million compared to 4.

However, it shows how far behind we are already falling...!

Rural broadband in the UK is being rolled out in places smaller than Martinborough at 100mbps. There are many many people who run businesses in rural NZ who need reliable fast broadband and we are not getting it. There are I am sure people who run businesses in town (Wellington) just because of that, meaning they must commute etc when they could stay local and work closer to home, rent space locally, employ local people and use local services and so on.

We are - according to Speedtest - slower than 62% of NZ (despite living less than 50 miles from the nation's capital city...)

This means that we are faster than 38% - which makes you wonder...!

And that's exactly what the RBI is doing - delivering faster speeds to rural people. You do have to realise however that these things can't be done overnight, Chorus for example have deployed over 3000 cabinets in the last 3 years and if you saw the amount of work required for a single cabinet you really do wonder how they got through so many!

Have you looked to see what speeds local wireless providers are offering? I know there are a few in Wairarapa and you'll potentially see 5Mbps symmetrical speeds.

Give the guy at the following link a ring, he seems to operate wireless services in the town and possibly as far out as you.

http://www.interlace.co.nz/

also try http://www.interlace.co.nz/

That has to be the worst website for a service provider in the history of man!

It does not even say what the business is or how to become a customer - just how to report a fault if you are one already. Quite strange for an IT business.

I will try and track them down. Obviously they do not market heavily - we have lived here since 2007 and never heard of them.

You'll need to forgive me; I have Aspergers and one of the ways it manifests is that being obsessional I tend to expect others to be so too (which is why I work for myself!).

Since they presumably do not yet work 24/7 shifts upgrading the cabinets, in my world they have a way to go yet before their effort is where it should be! And of course they should sort mine first!

Hi, sorry just realised I posted the 1st link twice, the other company is

http://wizbiz.co.nz/

As for interlace, you will see them in the street one closest to town near the council buildings, his antenna array is quite obviuos, and yes agree odd sites but wizbiz looks quite good although speeds are not that much more than your getting.
