To be fair, I am the one who introduced 2.5G in the conversation. I can't see GPRS as 2G, and it's not 3G. The original promise of "fast, always-on Internet" with GPRS never materialised. EDGE would be something like 2.75G?

So as I will use jasjar in india and they provide EDEGE and not 3G! Can I use EDEGE by this device or is it limited to GPRS and 3G only? One of the device I can remember which supports EDEGE is Nokia 3230.

The Jasjar works on GPRS and WCDMA only. EDGE is not supported. The Jamin, another Pocket PC currently available from Vodafone, works on GPRS and EDGE.

Remember EDGE is not available in New Zealand.
