Cosmetic changes in the update are nice, but I think underlying issues are still there.

I had to reboot twice since the update which I don't think is normal.

Last time was last night, I was watching live tv, tried to rewind, and then tried to play and it just froze.

Maybe clicked on rewind/play/rewind too fast because the response time is still poor, but it still shouldn't freeze the box.

I tried to leave it on all night to see if it would fix itself but it didn't - had to reboot this morning.

Hoping the next update brings a more stable platform...

Hi there

been watching the thread for a while and need help

with this new update I AM NOT HAPPY because of the fact that our T-Box is showing alot of failed recordings that happen everyday we have even tried to power cycle the t-Box and delete the recordings and do them again and it still does not make a difference we are very frustrated by this and also another problem that has been happening with the box is that sometimes the picture gets out of synch with the sound

i need help from anyone please

I don't like comparing the two, but tonight I was at my Dad's house and he has the telecom MySky and it is sooo good. The response time is spot on, like when you want something done, it will be done straight away. He said he never has any failed recording's and it never has to be turned off or rebooted.

Just wondering, when will the Telstra one be like this? The response time is the main thing I care about, doing anything just takes so darn long because it seems to take a couple seconds to register what you are trying to do.

Hi Christine,

It would help if you could you please advise the make and model of TV you have and how the T-Box is connected to it (eg, direct via HDMI or though some other device?). Also, the techs say that it would be useful, if this happens again, is you could take a photo or two as it's not something they've seen before.

We have a 42" Panasonic Viera Plasma and the T-Box is connnected directly with a HDMI cable. We've had this problem several times and it always seems to happens when the TV has not been on for several hours and only with through the T-Box.

No I haven't done a firmware update - have never heard of it.

Overall latest update is an improvement.

T-Box turned on before 6pm last night and had ongoing No service messages and windows. Required 5 x reboots of T-box and modem before any live picture.

Have been recording TV 1 & TV 3 news and Close up / Campbell Live as series links. Wrong recording of Campbell Live under Close up name (I did check the recorded file several times - effcetively 2 recordings of Campbell Live made).

Going to have to risk using buffer timings again as frustrating having prog ends cut off. Still getting some prog pixelation during live TV and playback.

Do the failed recordings give you an indication as to why they failed or does it just say its because of an Unknown issue?

A couple of questions ...

1. Are you using a Home Theatre or other external speakers?
2. What do you have the padding set to for your recordings?

For (2) I have mine set to 5 minutes, I do not have issues with failed recording.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

We do not use home theatre system just they speakers on the tv and also the padding is set to 2 minutes

Select the recording and press the i button on the remote. Failed reason should be in blue text at the bottom.

Thought I'd keep the thread short, so replies to Originalgeorge, Wellywoodvvs and ThatGuy2004.

Hi Originalgeorge, as mentioned a few days ago, the next update is primarily enhancements that should dramatically improve T-Box responsiveness. Some of the GZers following this thread saw a very early version of the code in action a few weeks ago and they might want to comment. Suffice it to say, we’re really pleased with the improvement we’ve seen. Both our broadcast team and the European software developers are working long hours to get the next release out as soon as we can.

Wellywoodvvs, can you please provide more information? For example, are the failed recordings always or generally Series Link or on-off recordings? If they’re Series Link you could try going, in the EPG (Guide) to the next time the programme is due to record and delete the link and then recreate it.

Were you using the T-Box (for example, watching recorded programmes) while the failed ones were recording, or was the T-Box just recording?

ThatGuy2004, the ‘no service’ message was due to an issue with a server and not the T-Box and we apologise for that. The server was back online within minutes but your T-Box may have taken a while to connect to the server. The occasional pixilation has been logged and will be fixed in an update coming soon.

Another feature I would like to see on my TBox has to do with the PAUSE banner.
When I am watching sports events, I often PAUSE to view the statistics or results on screen, but find the PAUSE banner almost always blocks viewing.
I would like a setting in the GENERAL menu that lets you select between having a the current full size PAUSE banner, or an small PAUSE icon in one of the screen corners.
Alternatively, the full size PAUSE banner could, after a 5 second period switch to a small icon positioned in a corner.
