attilathegorilla: He still doesn`t get it, after 22 pages.

I do get it.

I don't get why so many users believe they are entitled to... You know what? I don't need to finish that sentence. Too many users here feel they are just ENTITLED.

Entitled to the cheap (and I say cheap because it's not really free, no matter what spin you try to put on it) 75 GBs the Torrent plan held the promise of? Yes, you betcha I do! I wouldn't have a problem if Xnet changed the conditions to match reality (though as I said I think it's rotten having a broadband plan that becomes ... good... no... half decent? Nah... that becomes BARELY USABLE for one purpose only at certain times), but they haven't. Instead they've hobbled the Torrent plan even more.

You seem to forget it's Xnet who set the terms and quite frankly who helped set the expectations of the Torrent plan. And it's Xnet that have FUBAR'ed everything up. If they wanted to curtail heavy downloaders they'd raise the off-peak price, or reduce the amount allowed. But they didn't do that, did they? They didn't even kill an obviously broken plan. Nope - they made it worse instead and seem quite happy for even new unwitting customers to use a product that is seriously substandard by any definition within the industry.

Talkiet: No, I wouldn't be _happy_, but I also wouldn't expect the supplying company to build extra network (a new cabinet, or replacing copper lines) unless it also worked financially for them.

That's ridiculous. You wouldn't expect them to advertise the deal in the first place if they couldn't support it. You know as well as I do that it's false advertising and they are currently open to legal action if all 75GB cannot be downloaded in a given month by an average torrent plan user.

They may as well advertise 1 million free gigabytes. Consumers are lured into plans like this with the expectation that the usage is feasible.

BS.

Legal action? Don't make me laugh.

Or, you could do what many level headed people have recommended - hurt them the best way you can - vote with your wallet and choose another provider.

Seriously? If you detest what they have done so much - why are you still paying them for the service? That's not a rhetorical question - when a company I use pisses me around or supplies substandard service, I move. Why haven't you?

Don't deflect, answer that question in a rational way.

Cheers - N

This is nothing more than a b@*#h thread, and as such, I vote it be closed.

The arguement here is just going round in circles, is is doing nothing more than winding people up...its not constructive in any way.

I have changed from Xnet, as of yesterday I was with Vodafone, and overnight man I gorged myself on Downloads lolz.......

I certainyl didnt expect to download 75gig free every month nor Did I even try, Im around about 25gigs per month, Xnet called the plan TORRENT plan, enticing users to this plan with the free UPTO75gig off peak data, THEY offered this on the plan and people who changed to it expected this...

However Yes I can understand off peak performance issues after midnight, but to be unusable at all most any time is totally and utter crap, If I was wealthy I would take Xnet to court for failure of service, we all expect a REASONABLE standard of service which is not happening, I am not referring to downloading of torrents but general day to day net stuff.

when At 7am I try to read the NZ herald online and it wont load...then yeah im sure getting value for money....

If you've really been reading this thread you know one major reason (and there are more) why people have not moved ISPs despite being treated badly by Xnet. It's been oulined many times. But I'll give you a hint since your memory is obviously so poor: naked DSL.

My vote also to close the thread.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I give up.
Last month the usage meter was all f***ed up......
This month so far its jumped hell of a lot for me......
Xnet wont give any official word on their site that theres a problem with their system.
Speeds are still crap.

Im looking elsewhere.

To be fair, Xnet do not guarantee that you`ll all be able to use 75GB free traffic. That`s just as far as they`re willing to go. But the reason they originally set the bar at 75GB was because they made some calculations and thought that would still keep their service usable, considering the number of customers and the amount of bandwidth they were planning. And everything was going fine with the plan, until they decided to pool it into an apparently much much smaller bandwidth. What has resulted, is nowhere near broadband speeds for the users of the Torrent plan. It`s the most ridiculous thing that Xnet put a disclaimer on their page basically saying that the Torrent plan is a FS/FS plan that runs at dial-up speeds when it matters most.

Pooling torrenters is unheard of in the history of the internet, I reckon. Heavy downloaders are legitimate users just like online gamers or internet businesses and deserve the same quality of service. It`s Xnet`s job to implement solutions to make sure their bandwidth doesn`t get exhausted, but not by chucking torrenters into a tiny cage from one day to the next, especially when they had given them a taste of proper service on the exact same plan for months before.

No, you don't get it.
One of the things discussed in this thread is Naked DSL. Xnet is one of the only providers to offer the Naked DSL service.
Another thing discussed is that Fullspeed/Fullspeed is actually faster than dialup, which is what some describe their speeds as being.
Read the thread again.... then again..... then again.
Cheers.

I really give up here... Several of you have absolutely no clue about the economics surrounding the plan and the changes Xnet were forced into making.

Have the last word, lock the thread - whatever.

Anyone genuinely unhappy with the service could switch.

Bye.

Just searching for how to get off the torrent plan, I can't find it anywhere to change back.
Do we have to ring them to change plans now ?

Xnet were 'forced' into creating a plan that was unsustainable (mistakes happen, but one would think the likely outcome would have been predictable) and then were 'forced' into not changing the broken plan to reflect reality, but instead were 'forced' to break the plan even more rather than make any positive changes at all?

Huh. Well perhaps you could outline these forces to me because I'm unaware of anything 'forcing' a business to behave so badly and show such little regard for it's customers. Seems like there's a lot of unseen forcing going on. Please - since you seem to be in the know - explain these forces to us. I must be very, very dim indeed not to know what these forces are.
