EDIT: I rebooted my modem this morning, before testing.

Kodiack: @Sideface: That looks really good. Hopefully another modem restart will get our connection to that range as well.
Out of curiosity, what modem are you running? We're still on a Cisco DPC3008, but a lot of people seem to be running the Technicolor devices these days.
Cisco DPC3008 + Ubiquiti ER-X + Cisco smart switch + Ubiquiti UAP AC lite
I would be very reluctant to downgrade to a Technicolor

thecatsgoolies: Restart modem and test again
^^^ This - although I'm not on Cable anymore, whenever there were any network changes my latency spiked all over the place until a modem restart even though the connection speeds looked reasonable.
Hi, our tech teams ran a successful D-CMTS upgrade on the following nodes. This is part of a wider node upgrade programme designed to deliver greater capacity to our ultra-fast cable (UFC) customers in Wellington and Christchurch. Ultimately, Vodafone is future-proofing the UFC network so you can continue to do your thing better now and in the future. Further details about the upgrade programme will be available as we go.
Here's a list of nodes that have been upgraded in August and September so far:
Node | Where | Upgraded
W09 | Wellington | 3 August
W40 | Wellington | 4 August
WCPT | Wellington | 10 August

I wonder who it was who called the node P-town. Their legacy lives on.
Gave the modem another swift kick. Seems to have done the trick for latency:

Additionally, here's a speed test...to San Francisco!
Wow, that's impressive. I had a hard time believing @Sideface when he said he was getting line speed to the US. Even on our gigabit connection at work, we still only get ~30 Mbps to the States. Very nice job, Vodafone. I'll be immensely happy if this keeps up! :)
Peak hour will be the real test, though. Keen to see how things behave as more people get online. Also, with distributed CMTS, would I be right in assuming that there are more CMTS units installed, each serving fewer people than before? That would be an amazing win for simple scalability, I'm sure.
Regardless, things are looking better now than they ever have before. I'm absolutely blown away by that international download speed. I'm not even sure how it's possible solely from the work that was done! Definitely exceeding my expectations there, to say the least.

The connection has been an absolutely wonderful experience going into this evening. YouTube videos load at a blazing fast rate. I'm not even getting the spinning circle icon!
Island Bay, cable 100/10, node WKH:
8 o'clock and all's well ..
WGT, AUK, SYD, MEL, and LAX are still all above 100 Mbps.
Happy camper.
Will update at 9pm.

Speed test to LA at 9 pm. Amazing.
No issues whatsoever. Everything's been responsive, and I don't think I've seen YouTube's dreaded spinning circle once today! I used to get that on just about every video, and now I've yet to get it on one.
Great job, Vodafone engineers. Hoping this is a more permanent fix, and even if not, I hope that the infrastructure overhaul at least makes it easier to manage. :D
While it's looking better Kodiack, why are your flatmates so hellbent on staying with Vodafone? (serious question)

I'm not entirely sure. They say that they don't notice they issues as frequently as I do, yet they have still complained quite a bit. I think it's more a matter of apathy than anything else.
Quite satisfied with where things are currently, though. Really hoping that the performance that I'm seeing tonight is here to stay.
