pando:
50Mb/2Mb cable in Welly, only one online in the house, several bad packet losses throughout.
Thoughts, should I complain?
Have you restarted your cable modem? If you are getting fairly good performance overall but bad pings that quite often resolves things.
Yes, the router and modem were both reset when it first started happening, have toggled QoS (using advanced tomato) and that doesn't affect it. Actually, it started happening after I had them powered off for this week as I was away, so whether that is a coincidence or suspicious...
Island Bay, cable 100/10Mbps, node WKH
UPDATE: Three weeks after the node WKH upgrade:
(An update to my posts of 09 & 16 September)
Still getting full line speeds 24/7 for Wellington, Auckland, and Sydney.
Here are my own TrueNet stats for the last 3 weeks:

Fibre & Cable Comparison - File Download Speeds
The 100Mb/s services have clustered together in August (a good thing).
Vodafone Cable, and in particular My Republic both showed very much improved evening performance compared to the past few months.

Note that the "Cable 100Mb/s" group includes some volunteers with a 130Mb/s connection.

No update on upgraded nodes for last week @MikeHales?
Also surprised that you called this thread "pretty out of date now" on the VF community. Surely it is very current and you still have work to do to overcome congestion issues in some area? This is what the poster was asking about.

Updated on 16th on VF Community - should be getting new list today/tomorrow.
Going back 200+ pages, those original issues are not longer current. Yes, always some work to do but a lot has been done, which is why this thread is pretty quiet now.
I don't think this thread represents current cable network status. The message I replied to was specific to cable network worries aroused by the historical conversation here. That customer's node was updated in June.

Fair enough. Will these current upgrades allow for Gigabit plans to be enabled? I presume not.

Internet connection spontaneously dropped for a few minutes, then came back, and now we're seemingly stuck at 100 Mbps instead of the 130 Mbps that we're paying for...?
Did grandfathered 130 Mbps plans just get axed or something?
Talked to my flatmate. Sounds like he was going over a bill with Vodafone and they accidentally switched us to the 100 Mbps plan while sorting something out. Sounds like it should hopefully revert back to the 130 Mbps we pay for "soon". :\

Don't count on it...

I'm not, sadly. Losing nearly a quarter of our bandwidth in the blink of an eye really sucks.
Fibre cannot come fast enough.

Im not sure you would notice much real difference between 130 and 100....but when you have access to UFB in your area, Vodafone will offer you a good deal to retain your custom.

You may be surprised. At line speed, 130 Mbps vs 100 Mbps could be the difference between downloading something in 21 minutes instead of 30 minutes. Looked at in a different point of view, that 30 Mbps is basically a full extra 4K stream on YouTube. Plus, even if the difference is relatively small to an individual, it is still a shared connection. The extra bandwidth makes everyone happier.
High-speed Internet isn't about just having a solid connection for one device. It's important that everything can independently have access to the speed it needs to work as desired. More bandwidth means easier sharing.

... presuming that they have dropped their current policy of refusing to provide fibre when cable is available.

They offer both now..but the overseas call operators still explain that UFB is the inferior product...(well they did a couple of months back).
