1eStar: Oh and by the way, corrugated iron cladding is also really poor for allowing signal inside a house. I've stayed in houses where the only way to satisfactorily use a cellphone was to stand the phone on the window sill and use a Bluetooth headset.

And that pretty much sums up the problem here. Cellular radio signals behave a little like light from a streetlamp..... sure you can see the pole from your house, but you may not be able to see the light due to shadows. And if you're to far away from the streetlamp, sure you can see it and you can see the twinkle of the light, but the actual light you're getting from it where you are may be no use at all......

Had a look at all of them but unfortunately I couldnt locate a External Antenna socket on my phone, its a Samsung Galaxy S2

I read in a few forums though that pushing in any wire in the socket thats available under the battery cover will disengage the phone antenna and that doesnt engage back.. So not too willing to try that remedy.. :P

Not sure what plan you are on, but one option would be to add your home number as a NZBestmate, and then divert all calls to home while you are at home.

I had to do this for a while when I was in exactly the same situation as yourself. It wasn't too much hassle, it very quickly became a habit to automatically get in the car, fasten seatbelt and undivert phone.

Might be worth thinking about, anyway.

Virgil: Not sure what plan you are on, but one option would be to add your home number as a NZBestmate, and then divert all calls to home while you are at home.

I had to do this for a while when I was in exactly the same situation as yourself. It wasn't too much hassle, it very quickly became a habit to automatically get in the car, fasten seatbelt and undivert phone.

Might be worth thinking about, anyway.

Diverted calls are not included in Bestmate / NZbestmate the diverts calls will use included minutes first

Thats a good idea..

Worth a try.. I would atleast get the calls to come through.. even if it uses my plan minutes..

I dont mind that coz right now I am spending those minutes anyway in going through voicemails
