Behodar: I remember a tradein deal from 2000/2001ish where you could trade in any phone and get $50 off a new prepaid phone. I traded in an old analogue phone with the physical dial!

Sometime around they you used to be able to get a whole free phone. At one point Telecom and Vodafone has the same deal on at the same time.

I walked into a Telecom store and traded my Motorola GSM phone for a AMPS phone, took it out of the box, walked to the Vodafone store are traded it back for a brand new GSM handset (A Phillips Savvy if I recall) that came with $100 credit (as the prepaid phones did in those days).

All without spending a cent. Those were the days.

Out of interest I took an old iPhone 3GS into Vodafone Glenfield to see what it was worth on a trade-in.  After a few minutes tapping away at a computer the shop assistant announced it was worth $105.  I mentioned that I had the original box and all the other bits and pieces but he said that didn't matter.  He also mentioned that the values they offer change from day to day, so next week they might offer more (or less).

I'm not sure how that compares to prices on Trade Me.  Anyone want to comment?

Looks like the Note 1 is worth $309.. didn't even look at the condition of it. They just checked their portal for the price.. Told me I could come back next week and try again, but told me price would likely decline. My old Samsung E2120 and Vodafone 845 mobile phones weren't even considered to be of value, because it "wasn't on their list of mobile phones" on their portal.

When I took my Galaxy Note 1 White, the guy said.. "Nah man, that is definitely not a Note 1..I've seen a Note 1.. (gets his Note 2 out to compare.. then brings out a black Note 1 from back of store..then goes on to say) We've never sold White Note 1s so I'm confused." Lol.

So I guess I could try Trade Me now..

Seems fair to me, about half the second hand value is all you get from the likes of cash converters etc on a good day.

if they price it that low, what 3-phone combination can give you $1500?

That would seem about right to me, you can get a refurbished one for around $250-280 most weeks at the moment.
