So now i'm effectively stuck on 100GB? ...
... but it's no go unless I fork out $199 to break the contract.

Do you know if the termination fee is staggered/reduced the longer into the contract you are?
Would be interesting to know.

Yes it is

Just called again to re-confirm. The reason i have to pay $199 is because I was put on a "special promotion" last October.

We did some calculating and i'm paying exactly $163.11 for TV, Phone and 100GB internet. That is the same price as vodafone is advertising for TV, phone and 150GB. http://www.vodafone.co.nz/internet/high-speed-cable-network/broadband-tv-bundles/

So basically I have to decide if it would be worth it for me to pay $199 now, for an extra 50GB a month.

I was told i'd have to sign a new contract though (but with no discounts), so again I would be stuck for a year and probably come across the exact same problem in six months when the plans are changed again.

What do? :(

How is unmtered going to work now on cable?
  • Previous TC unmetered sites
  • Current VF unmetered sites iSky and Sure Signal http://help.vodafone.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/13928/~/what-is-%E2%80%98unmetered-data%E2%80%99%3F
  • Superset of both
  • Something else

We've got a bit of a mix of services/companies here:
* Our land line and broadband is (was) with TC, now Vodafone. We're on a 40 GB a month package now.

* My partner has an android tablet. She was paying some expensive amount to connect to VF's cellular network. I configured it to work wirelessly with our router so no more bills.

* My partner's cellphone is with Telecom as she reckons they have better deals than VF do for cellphones.

We have never had Sky or any other pay TV and don't plan to get it.

karit: How is unmtered going to work now on cable?

Answering my own post got a tweet from VF:

@nzkarit for now it will stay like it was, we are working on changes for the future ^CB

https://twitter.com/vodafoneNZ/status/318973064530505728

So it is staying the same. Though I would like to know when they are going to fix unmetered.co.nz as when they did the VF cutover they broke site and it is now just pointing at the home page rather than the dedicated Unmetered site.
