I'm getting similar figures at the moment, downloading masses of Ubuntu updates at 20kb/sec was getting irritating...

Looks like it's stuffed again - I can't even get a ping to speedtest.net in LA

sbiddle:
Funny thing is I noticed it seemed to be affecting HTTP or port 80 traffic as well and other stuff seemed to be OK. While my system was timing out trying to browse numerous international sites I was on the phone using my Aussie VoIP account using SIP and had no problems at all with the phone call.

This is exactly what I've been seeing for the last couple weeks in Wellington (eastern suburbs), it starts around 9pm and lasts until after I normally go to bed.

The weird thing is that while web pages take ~60 seconds to load, non-port 80 traffic seems to be fine (eg. my ssh connection to a server in the states is unaffected).

It's almost like we're being forced through a badly behaved, or very overloaded, proxy server.

I keep meaning to call but last time I called them about this I spent an hour on hold and I can't quite summon the motivation.

<grrr>

I made a support call last week, i've just updated it with more info and asking them to fix it. Also told them there was a discussion about it hereon geekzone, but I doubt they'd get too upset if a few random forum posters were unhappy with their browsing speed!
