Does that mean that it can run 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz in the same time?

TimA:
DjShadow: Can anyone who has this router already advise how they find the WiFi on it? We were given a Vodafone Station to use with adsl2+ but went back to our trusty netgear router as wifi devices kept dropping

Wifi is 2.4 and 5GHZ dual stream. I would compare it to my Fritz 7340 in terms of response and range, Also has Wifi AC.

PM me for any queries about the device.

So got my HG659 on Saturday. Quite a nice little box. And 2.4/5Ghz separate and GBit Wlan ports and a separate WLAN port. Just sad the VoIP is munted by VF. Would replace sooo much cabling! I'll see if I am brave enough to flash....

Hey! I'd be interested to hear what kind of guest wifi network you can setup and if you can do any bandwidth control by IP or MAX address?

None as far as I can see. You can dedicate the 2.4Ghz network as guest but there is no special Guest function that I can see. Also no bandwidth limiting.

There is a bandwidth control setting under 'Internet'. It appears to be total bandwidth over all connections to/from the modem rather than per-SSID.

I just had a report of good WAF from home, the DLNA server on the HG659 router plays content my old Netgear DGND3700 wouldn't play!

Anyone figure out the admin password yet? I've heard that vodafone have restricted changing the SIP settings, preventing voip calls from external providers through a regular analog telephone.

Yeah, don't want to go there. Was so nice and easy with the HG556. Anyway i thought I lived on the cheap side long enough so now I have splurged out on one of those Linksys boxes. Works a treat and now independent of router but ANOTER pug in the board :-(

I took the gamble and signed up for VDSL with the supplied HG659 home gateway router (2 weeks ago) and the modem finally arrived today.

Open the box, and the quick start guide inside the box says to download the full manual on http://consumer.huawei.com/en (enter HG659 in the search box).

Sadly that comes back with:
http://consumer.huawei.com/en/search/index.htm?keywords=HG659

"Sorry, No results were found."

This is not good.  I can understand if we were renting their modem, but these are our purchased outright modems - crippled by Vodafone.

From the Vodafone VDSL thread:

Case sensitive. Haven't managed to get the VOIP side going however. Everything in the menus is pretty self explanatory.

/Edit: Removed at request of someone higher up the foodchain. Sorry folks.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Darn. It's the VoIP settings that I want to be able to edit. Keep us posted if you figure it out.

VOIP stuff is all editable with the Admin password and saves ok but there is some other issue.

This thread says the username/password is vodafone/vodafone...
