$128Hk for unlimited usage a month.Thats like $20NZ?

Funny thing is the other data is like $0.01 per KB after u exceed the plan So umm The exchange rate is $6Hk = $1NZ

So $0.0016NZ per Kilobyte or $1.7NZ per MB

Thats really cheap

This is great news. With plans like this people who use more than a very small amount of data each month can seriously consider a mobile alternative for their everyday internet usage.

my only real gripe is why offer the products CHEAPER to those whom whom go on 24month term! Totally the opposite from what was offered previously which was a discount instead!

The pricing should be the same with the only difference is the free hardware in return for the contract.

OT - Hong Kong is 1,104km2 (which is only slightly larger than Auckland), with 6.8m people and at least 6 cellular providers.

Much cheaper to service more people in a smaller area like Hong Kong than it is in NZ.

Vodafone launches 3GB Mobile Broadband

Vodafone is pleased to announce the launch of the Broadband Pro mobile broadband plan. Designed to complement the existing mobile broadband range, Broadband Pro offers users 3GB of data per month for $69.95 with a 24 month contract..

“We already have an entry level 200MB/month plan and the very popular 1GB plan, but customers have told us they want more data when they’re on the move,” says GM of Products and Services, Kursten Shalfoon.

The new plan is also available at $79.95 per month (with an additional $10 for bundle insurance) for customers who want no fixed term.

“The customer automatically gets the benefit of our bundle insurance which gives them a buffer of an additional 3GB of traffic to ensure they don’t run the risk of exceeding the monthly limit.”

Customers who sign up for 24 months can choose between a free Vodem or a Vodafone Mobile Connect PC card for $99. The Vodem has been wildly successful in the
New Zealand market and requires no additional software to install – customers simply plug in the Vodem into a USB port on their laptop or desktop and the Vodem takes care of installation.

Vodafone’s 3G Broadband network offers real-world speeds of between 800kbit/s and 1.4Mbit/s download speed and 380kbit/s upload speed. The Broadband Pro plan is available from Monday, July 21.

Vodafone’s 3G broadband network offers peak speeds of up to 3.2Mbit/s and average speeds of between 800kbit/s and 1.4Mbit/s.

how about incentive for people that are already on 200MB or 1GB to upgrade without penalty?

Thanks for filliing us all in, Paul. This is certainly a good offer and I look forward to taking it up.

However, it has to be said that if Vodafone wants to be taken seriously as a competent and professional service provider then you really need to proof read your press releases before letting them out. July the 21st is a Saturday, not a Monday as you suggest.

This new plan is great if you're wanting a mobile data solution but I'd love Vodafone to do something about the lower end of the market. A 3MB for $10 entry level plan is an absolute joke in comparision to the range of data plans now available. Keep casual data at $10, I don't have a problem with that but for $10 how being a bit more generous and giving us at least a 10MB cap?

Do Vodafone currently charge to upgrade form the 200mb plan to the 1GB plan? Other than that, I don't really see a reason for charing a customer who wishes to spend more money with Vodafone? Or am I missing something?

They don't charge customers on You Choose plans going to a higher plan, i can't see why they would penalise you if u wanted to transfer up to the 1GB plan.

Two things I have learned today:

1: When a product manager says Monday 21 July, don't believe him.Tongue out
2: When posting a press release, post all of it - don't chop off the end.

The end of the release says there's no penalty to upgrade - just make contact with your account manager/777 and you can upgrade to the new 3GB plan.

Hope that helps,

Cheers

Paul

When a Vodafone Product Manager says anything, doubt it. I learned this last week. Paul knows why. And after doubting I got the answers - the correct answers.

Yes Paul, I will carry this for a long time in the baggage.
