johnr: Just spoken to the NOC and they have advised of a fibre cut / damage impacting traffic and also the weather has caused some other issues

Thanks John. would be good if customer services talked to NOC now and then.

Is the number for Network Operations Center the same as the standard VF Customer Service number 0800 438 448?

rotatingBacon: The person on the phone said he couldn't since there is no evidence of any issues (hahaha), so they would just throw the ticket out.

But you are having issues or you would not have called,

Exactly, do you know if that upgrade you mentioned before would help with the congestion if that's the issue here?

The reason for the upgrades is to remove the congestion impacting customers

Ok cool, i guess ill wait it out until the upgrades have been completed. The issue tonight with pages not loading seems to be a different issue, probably due to the network issues John mentioned before.

We've been having heaps of web browsing issues for 2 days now on Christchurch ultrafast cable. The whinging of flatmates blaming my router is getting very old.

I wasn't sure if it was packet loss or the transparent proxy screwing up. Sites intermittently time out (e.g. ubuntu.com 6pm yesterday) yet they work fine if I socks proxy through an ssh tunnel to my server in Seattle.

Throughout, Monitis also has shown very consistent ping times to my router every minute from California and Australia without any missed pings.

Just weighing in, I'm in Miramar, Wellington on VF Cable 50/2 unlimited and I'm having sites not loading all over the place, I think it started Sunday night a bit but it was worse yesterday and is far worse now. Swapping out DNS servers isn't doing anything. One thing I do note, however, is that I'm getting normal speedtest results using servers all over NZ and Australia so I'm just totally lost now.

Any ideas on an ETA for the cables getting fixed?
