myopinion: So our mobile providers in NZ do need to get their sh!t together and start offering better data packages, based on overseas offerings.

who are you comparing to?  NZ is 4.5M people, spread out over a reasonably large surface area with lots of mountains and valleys etc

I think he was referring to the examples I gave. Norway is more spread out and got lots of mountains and valleys and have around 5 million people living there, Denmark is more flat but about the same population.

coffeebaron:
But if you make this too cheap and allow in the urban areas, the cell-sites would get slammed big time.

Perhaps Norway / Denmark have a large Pico cell deployment?

I wouldn't know. But, from what I know of people using this - its usually in less urban areas that people use this for their main internet access. In the cities its either fiber, cable or ADSL/VDSL that is used to connect to the internet at home.

myopinion: T-Mobile in the US offer unlimited 4G data. However they do limited the tethering to 5GB.

Have you ever used T-mobile in the US?

Yes I have and their 4G speed was slower than our 3G at the time, people tend to forget that side of the coin...

If you want to have unlimited mobile broadband (which will never happen) you can say hello to your dialup speeds again (see the comment above). Yes, I've used T-Mobile in America as well and the 3G is much faster here.
