Found the Google cached version of the herald story:

The cable that connects New Zealand's internet to the rest of the world has had a fault this morning.

The Southern Cross Cable Network is experiencing a fault, believed to have occurred in Takapuna, where the cable comes ashore.

An alert was sent this morning saying the Southern Cross Cable Network Operations Centre had observed a major network incident at Takapuna cable station in New Zealand.

The problem couldn't be immediately confirmed, but it appeared it had occurred outside the Southern Cross network, the alert said.

More information was expected later today.

The question is why the Herald removed it?
