Massively off topic, but just wondering if the VF time servers are public? I currently use the MSL ones at Callaghan Innovation (I am a vodafone customer).

I'm not sure sorry. I would expect probably not public and part of the Vodafone TV server. I've been here five years and haven't heard them mentioned aside from Vodafone TV. I'm sure there must be something for keeping phone call charging on time as well for off peak and on peak. :)

Scotty1986: My wife, who knows nothing of tech hates it, like seriously hates it and is always begging to go back to Mysky. The picture is great, and that's the only positive thing I can say. It's so slow, and everything takes so many button presses to do what you want. Do you ever find yourself pushing buttons hard on a remote because for some reason you think it will help? That's how it feels using Vodafone TV. Another thing my wife complains about is that a show on series link also records all the repeats of the show that are played during the night and day. I don't know if its fixed, but at one point it was recording the most recent episode of Shortland street, the rerun late at night, and the old episodes that play during the day. The HDD filled up fast and she would have to delete them one by one.

Also she tells me that she constantly misses the start and end of shows when it records. I now believe she has given up and pretty much just uses on demand TV over the internet.

Re missing the sta and end of shows... The clock on the box drifts the longer you go between restarts, meaning recording gets munted. Silly I know but still there as a problem.

A weekly restart will address this, ours is every night.

Hi Dylan, is there any planned updates to Vodafone TV, my wife has currently given up on it and now only watches the news live, and anything else on demand on the web. Also, by update, I mean a compete overhaul of the UI and series link to only download the last played shows, not all the repeats.

Yes there are updates coming but I don't know what's included. There was the mention about SKY On Demand coming to Vodafone TV customers which I'm sure will form a part of it.

langers1972:
For example, if you've recorded lots of programs you still have to page through them all as there doesn't seem to be any way to display the latest recordings first.

With VF TV you can sort newest to oldest, just go into Planner and select the 'newest' tab.

I wish the recordings of the same programme would group together, that'd be great

You can sort them alphabetically too!

We used to have major problems with shows being cut off. After several resets, we have had no recent issues (maybe the new firmware is working ok).

Yes it is slow to respond to the remote, yes, series link captures the mid-day repeats as well - however, in comparison with Mysky it is massively less expensive- I'm not sure I would want to throw extra-$$$$$ Sky's way just to speed up the remote?

You are quite right, unless Sky change the way they do business I don't see me going back anytime soon, was a huge rip off. My brother watched the RWC final live on a on demand sky service without a sky subscription, that is heading in the right direction!
