Oh well, hopefully there will be a multi-frequency Express Card available soon.

Would love to see a coverage map

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Last I heard it's probably going to be mid year before we see any data cards publically available.

Hopefully before the end of the year we'll start to see quite a few tri band WCDMA devices available (850+900+2100) as a few of the major chipset manufacturers have all announced chipsets support quad band GSM + tri band WCDMA over the past year or so and it typically takes some time before products appear in the marketplace.

Am I the first person to post via UMTS 900? Or did JohnR beat me to it? :-)

Either way, is better than the GPRS I am used to!!

(Glenbrook site by the way, has been live (again) since mid morning.)

Todays travels revealed

Levin is 900mhz 3G. The whole way from Waikanae to Wellington on SH1 is covered also, but will be a mix of 900 and 2100.

Good news and bad news - The good - I finally have full 3G around my house, not half 3G dropping to 2G when the site breathes. Yay!! This can only be due to the more rural site 180 degrees from my existing 2100 "infill" site being turned on. Let's hope it stays that way.

The bad, I have JohnR (who is about 500m from here) texting me to tell me he now has 3G in the smallest room in his house!!!!! I DON'T WANT TO KNOW BUDDY, KEEP YOUR PHONE OUT OF THERE.

It has been on and off in Franklin for the past couple of weeks, off for the last couple of days but now here in Glenbrook it is on again.

Here's hoping it stays live for good this time and here's hoping all the other sites nationwide are on too.

Any other reports anyone?

Speedtest later :-)
