freitasm: Did you read the rest of the thread? This was a transparent proxy problem, TelstraClear was on the ball, a patch was applied, all fixed now.

Ahaha... lol, sorry, missed there was a page 2. :)

Behodar: From the blog:

2) Errors with automatic logins
Issues with logins to web sites such as Twitter not staying persistent.

Aha! It's good to know that it's not just me. I haven't seen this issue in a couple of weeks but I'll keep my eye open for if it happens again (I'm using TCL DNS on PDQ ASDL).

Aaand it just happened again.

It's never actually been fixed as far as I'm concerned and still exists today.

Fairfax websites in Australia incl theage.com.au and smh.com.au are still b0rked and haven't worked properly for months on any TCL connection.

Around 50% of the page loads and it then takes around 60 sec minimum for the rest to appear. Since the "fix" the advertisements no longer show the TCP error message however, they just display a blank box now. The fix didn't solve the slow page load speeds though which exist throughout the entire site on any pages with ad's that the cache chokes on.

It never been a problem for me... so what's so GOOD about OpenDNS if it is causing issue? Are you all in Wellington by the way?

Thanks for the explanation on this, we have about 180 machines on Linux.

Last year all the ones using telstra as an ISP stared having issues getting to Facebook, Bebo but not google, cnn etc, we messed around with MTU's and other random IP settings for ages before doing a new build sans opendns and they worked fine after that.

Nice to know why now !

My thoughts are a transparent proxy is not really transparnet if it breaks things (for whatever reason).

Who do I send the bill to at Telstra, must have cost us ~$5,000 in messing around and site visits because one ISP out of 10 would not run with our standard build.

(Telstras helpdesk was of no help) ... "it works on windows.... we don't support linux".....

Actually managed to move two customers off Telstra to Telecom before we figured it out.

Cheers

I just tried both of those sites and they load pretty fast for me however I don't use ISP DNS servers nor do I use OpenDNS..

I have TCL cable and have been having problems with smh.com.au for ages.  I noticed that it was stuck when loading stuff from the direct.fairfax.com.au URL (at the Video section).  So I added that URL to AdblockPlus and now the SMH loads really quickly.

Can't be bothered to comb through the html to figure out what exactly it's trying to download, but the page looks fine.

theage and smh seem to be loading OK today..

Unfortgunately theregister.co.uk is now stuffed and chokes on the ad's

I really wish TCL could sort their issues out.. If you're going to have a transparent proxy then make sure it works.
