JayADee: I'm always glad to have it affirmed as not being at my end.
Our desktop PC is overheating as of yesterday. I didn't really think it was that hot this afternoon but it did it again when we removed the little fan we had blowing on it to help it out.
My first thought with the xnet outage was maybe the heat got them, too.

My net was down too here in Welly :( grrr, missed some phonecalls since the voicemail wasn't working or forwarding calls to my cell either
If your PC is overheating in only 32 degree heat, you might need to get a better heatsink or you might have dust clogging your system.  Setting up my friends PCs in Australia seem to work fine in 40+ heat with the stock coolers, might also pay to check the heatsink and how it sits, get some artic ice in there ASAP :)

I ordered a second case fan on Friday; it only has one at the back and the CPU fan. The one at the back doesn't seem very powerful. The one I ordered for the front should do it I hope. Otherwise, I'll try the Arctic silver. It's practically brand new though, surely they'd have something on there already?

Yeah, some of the cases don't have good enough fans, like my thermaltake lanbox, the fans were noisy but were pushing no air :(.  Same with the stock CPU coolers.

I always go for a larger cooler than stock.  My reasons are mostly due to noise.  I can't stand my PC sounding like a hairdryer :). Currently I have a blue-orb II, which is about 140cm in diameter with a 12cm fan on the top, it keeps it amazingly cool even when the room gets hot(2 PCs in a small study) the CPU temp idles round 25-28, tops out when gaming at 40, on an overclocked 5600+ from 2.8ghz to 3.125ghz :)

Hmm, i'm overseas at the moment but my wife just pointed out the Xnet failure -again- and that DNS is _still_ playing up.

Seriously going to be looking for an ISP change when I get back I think.

DNS has been stuffed for the last wee bit, and it looks like it went to a larger outage for afew minutes (possibly due to them retarting something?)

It's getting beyond a joke

Hands up anyone who just had another 15 minutes outage.

Yep, me too.
My wife is going to be thrilled when I connect to WxC Fusion this week and then she keeps losing phone contact - I don't think.

Yeah almost got that far before the torrents died and I realised the whole entire thing was down. I wonder if xnet knows the pain we receive from the respective others about our crap choice of provider...

There was a network issue that effected some ISP and VFX customers between approx 17:32 - 17:50 this appears to be a re-occurrence of an issue that occurred on Friday, we are still working on the root cause of the issue and we are extremely sorry to any inconvenience this is causing.

We are working hard to fully identify and rectify the issue and appreciate our customers understanding.

Quick news update today.
