My Sony XZ2 still shows Vodafone NZ
Wondering if your phone is using a Carrier ID that is then retrieved from your phones Internal database.

SirHumphreyAppleby:
I am highly offended by this. "UpTheWahs" is too close to Up The Wazoo, slang for buttocks or anus.
The network name serves a practical purpose. It isn't there to promote sports teams or political purposes.
Yep, saw it earlier and thought it meant network outage, it's up the wazoo. Shouldn't expect anything sensible from a company that rebranded as One, though.
When I was in NZ, I was finding the whole network name switching a bit childish. I would have preferred the ability to opt-out or an iPhone option to disable the network name altogether.
Since moving over here, I only use Wifi calling for my NZ sim and none of the AU Telcos appear to do that.

So I was out driving this morning to pick up an item I had purchased on TradeMe and saw a car with the number plate "UPDWAH" and thought I should come here and comment...
But before I did so I went onto TradeMe to leave feedback...
And on the front page was this listing for the number plate "UPDWAH"!
Not a Vodafone/one customer (or whatever its called these days) but this is dumb
On just glancing at the title I thought it read 'up the wazoo' SO ONE can take it up the a**e? ....probably
A large percentage of NZ isn't even into league.

People having a moan about this need to find more serious things in their lives to worry about.
Suspect you've missed the point. I doubt there's anyone here who doesn't have more serious things to worry about, and in a number of cases very significantly more serious things that affect their day to day existance, including health issues and loss of house due to Gabrielle etc. Coming here and having a lighthearted moan about what's ultimately a fairly trivial topic is good so people can have a laugh and socialise - while there's a foundation of fact in most of the replies, I expect they're also made with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

On my Pixel under Kogan, my text still says KOGAN MOBILE or KOGAN MOBILE WiFi Calling (if im on wifi) howerver in the *#*#4636#*#* debuging interface I see that the network name has changed from One NZ to UpTheWahs and in the network selection menu in settings its now showing as UpTheWahs instead of Vodafone NZ/One NZ which is interseting considering that Spark still shows as Telecom NZ. So I find it interseting that they seem to have done about as much as a complete rebrand on the network side as they did when they switched from Vodafone NZ to One NZ.
Honestly all our providers have shitty names.
Considering One NZ can be confused for the major tv station.
Considering Spark sounds more like some electricty company and not a telecomunications company.
And 2degress is eh.

More people watched neither.

Yep I'm in the group who watched neither.
I hoesntly couldn't tell you a single fact about the warriors before this bs.
I honestly don't appreicate the network name on the provider that I pay money to monthly to be used to advertise coperate sponsorships.
RogerMellie: Can we get rid of this now?

Pretty stupid idea to make the customers think they care more about sports results than their daily business. Hopefully they at least have excellent customer service. 😄
