Geektastic: I don't entirely see why the plans expire.
If I buy $30 worth of petrol, no one comes along and siphons it out of my tank if I do not use it within a certain time.
It is my petrol, I paid for it.
Data is no different. I paid for 3Gb - why should I have a restriction on when I use it by?
Or did I misunderstand how it works?

Good point, but your petrol do expire if you don't use it in a certain timeframe. Just like a carton of milk. So i guess mobile data can have an expiry date.

Well, ultimately it would expire. But only through natural processes like evaporation or contamination - not because the garage came along and reclaimed it, which is essentially the equivalent of what these plans do.
