The Naked Truth – Vodafone offers Broadband as it should be

Forget paying for a landline you don’t really need, forget forking out for “free” local calls you never make. Vodafone is freeing up your cashflow by offering naked broadband from just $45 a month.

You have a mobile, you make your calls on your mobile, so why are you paying for a landline you don’t need? Now Vodafone says you don’t have to. If you’ve got your mobile with Vodafone you can get your broadband at home without paying for the landline rental.

Vodafone’s popular Ideal home phone and broadband pack offers 10GB of data a month and a service that’s as fast as your line can offer and normally it would cost you $80 a month but now with Ideal Naked it will only cost $45 in you’re in our Red Zone.

Similarly with our top of the range Ultimate home phone and broadband pack (30GB for $90) the price drops to $55 a month in our Red Zone.

Vodafone’s General Manager of Total Telecommunications, Justin Caswell, says “Customers want the freedom to own a mobile and still have fixed line broadband at home and we’re thrilled to be able to offer Naked Broadband.

“We’re offering our mobile customers the best value Naked Broadband in New Zealand.  It’s a great product for people who like to work or browse the web at home on fixed broadband, it’s about more options for our at home customers, and fantastic value.”

Naked broadband means you’ll no longer have a fixed landline for your home calling. You can get more calling power from your mobile with great value Add-Ons like BestMate, Family, and Your Time .

The introduction of Naked Broadband is part of a new wave of at home products from Vodafone. Stay tuned for more great offers in the coming months.

Wow... that's an awesome deal considering I don't need an analog phone line at home. I'm in.

So it's naked but not really. You don't have the landline, but you only get the real benefits if you have an account.

No to more than 60GB in a month (I double my data most months from 30 but 60 is the max. I'm working on changing that..) and you can set it up ahead of time (automatically each month or month by month).

Yes to SkyHDi - you can indeed.

You get the greater discount if you're already a Vodafone on account customer - as I've said, the more business you do with us the greater the value we can give back. This is one example.

We aren't offering VOIP but as I've said here at other times, we neither support nor prohibit VOIP services on the data network.

The website should go live overnight ready for ordering etc tomorrow.

New customers can sign up to no contract term (for a $99 joining fee) or 12 months for no fee plus a modem or 24 months for no fee plus a wireless modem as per our usual sign up plans.

Cheers

Paul

Howdy folks,

A couple of questions about Vodafone and naked DSL:

1. Do I have to have a live phone line at my house to sign up? Currently the phone line is disconnected but was connected in the past.

2. Has anyone who has taken up the mysky offer worked out how it works if we have multiroom? We have 1 x HDi and 1 x mysky classic and pay for multiroom. We bought the hdi outright and pay multiroom to keep the mysky classic.

Cheers,

Matt.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Ta. Ah yes. After a bit more scouting found the HDi FAQ.

Our apologies but we?ve had to delay the launch for a day while we work on some back office system that?s not playing nicely.

Sorry for the delay.

Come back to me when you finally get some RED Zone action happening in Wellington.

That goes for you too Orcon. We have a nice big exchange in the eastern suburbs, just down the road which would suit you just fine.

Meanwhile I will continue getting my "naked" broadband via the cable modem fairies (10 GB for $54.95), I dare not name them aloud in this forum...

+ vf site still not up

Jon

what's wrong with the site? I'm in there now...

Sure, the problem is (as has been discussed many times) cabinetisation means there's a limited business case for unbundling cabinets and when you add in the uncertainty around fibre (why would you invest tens of millions in copper when it's about to be over built etc) you're not likely to see much movement until we know the lay of the land.

Cheers

Paul

Oh I got all excited there for a minute - axe the homeline and save $30 a month!

But, no. Unfortunately I'm on prepay and not in the Red Zone. If i axe the phone line, I only save $5 :(

So it's not naked DSL at all.  You've got to have a contract mobile to get any real benefit.

Yawn.  What a non-event.
