Hi Chiefe

I never got to the installation of the T-box stage so I don't know about the T-Boxes  needing to get its update on first boot-up and that takes about 10mins (and few reboots).

I am sure there  likely to be teething problems, but I thought thats why we all waited soooooo long for the final release, as Telstra didn't want to release it into the market untill they were sure they had all of them sorted.

The thing that really annoys me is that I have talken 1.5 days of my annual leave to be at home so they can do the install and I am worse off now than when they started.

I am still going to have take more leave if I want them to try and install it again and I am sure it has cost me alot more than the saving of the $99 waiver of instal fee currently being offered.

There are definitely teething problem as it IS very new for Downer Engineering to do a large scale installation, very very high demand. From the technicians that came and did our installation last Saturday, they were busy-as! And provisioning devices are quite a bit of a mess. And the T-Boxes will need to get its update on first boot-up and that takes about 10mins (and few reboots).

It IS well worth the wait if you have been a TCL TV customer using analogue/ADB STB. At least it is now catching up to MySkyHDi, and it has its unique potential.

You might be frustrated but there are many others waiting to get their installation as well.

Why not arrange for weekend installation if you want to avoid taking leave?

Hi Chiefie

I did ask for a weekend install and were told there weren't any available.

Do their weekend installs work better than their week ones?

Not sure, usually be limited staff on weekend, provisioning is down through Downers, in worse situation, the technician will have to call TCL support directly to get it through. My weekend installation was like that, as it's drawing closer towards 5pm, at one stage Downers Citrix to TCL was down, so technician had to call TCL directly to get them provisioned.

I learnt that, the provisioning team needs to be told what kind of installation, NEW or UPGRADE.

It's barely a week new, so there's alot of teething problem with larger scale installation. The T-Box has some of its final touching-up bugs, and with more customers mean there are many more potential combination of usage that may not have encountered during smaller beta testing stage. AFAIK TCL is still improving their T-Box firmware.

zaptor: Just got off the phone to TC rep.

Second T-Box decoder for $10 includes all features for primary decoder, including same extra channels, and HD ticket (i.e. only pay Sky Sport subs + HD Ticket subs once).

Plus the new pricing for their triple package deals (for those of us fortunate enough to be in the residential cable zones) makes it very attractive.

As Chefie mentioned install is free (for both decoders of course) up until Oct 31st.

Plus the rep is also adding a sweetener to the deal...

Now, just to figure out how much the termination fee is for the remaining term on the MySkyHDi contract.

Telstraclear will get the Fee for Terming with Sky Removed :)
