Hi Allen,

Chasing Wholesale faults for an update on this.

Everything you've provided points towards peak time local exchange congestion being the issue - same issue as last time.  Unfortunately we can't force them to act, we can only continue to chase them until they take action.

We've spoken to a few other users on the same DSLAM and they have similar issues (reported this to Wholesale).  This issue will be affecting anyone connected to the same DSLAM as you.  If you know anyone else with problems who is close to you I would advise them to complain to their ISP.

Numbers are really the key to helping push this issue forward, however I'm thinking most people in the area are used to experiencing sub par service (given past issues/congestion) & don't complain.

Will report back to you if I hear anything from Telecom Wholesale today.

Thanks
Cameron

Hi Cameron.

Perhaps a letterbox drop? are you able to to give me any clues to which area SWO DSLM01 covers, or is it likely to be scattered all over the exchange area?
I can tell from the Wholesale broadband availability checker the area that is on SWO, but not the dslam.

Regards Allen.

Hi Allen,

Looks like we've finally got a breakthrough - this issue has been traced to core Wholesale equipment in the New Plymouth region - it's now being fully investigated and possible solutions explored.

Sorry for the delays but this isn't the usual congestion type problem which relates to your DSLAM or RAN.  Your perseverance has helped bring the issue to light and hopefully we'll now see action to resolve it once and for all.

Thanks,
Cameron

Fingers Crossed.

Will you track progress, or should I prompt you in a week? 2 weeks?

I would be interested in what is actually found?

Regards Allen.

I will chase Telecom Wholesale faults,  every couple of days for an update - keep an eye on this thread for an update or PM me anytime.

Fingers crossed it won't be hard to resolve.

Looks like I have had a huge improvement to Latency and VOIP audio quality since a 40 minute outage this morning. averaging 47mS latency all evening when idle.

If this continues I'll post some results for the record.

Allen.

Interesting.

My synch speed has dropped from my usual  7616k down, 896k up to 7072k down & 672k up? attenuation and margin have altered by a dB or 2 as well. Same numbers after a reboot.
Change of pair or port?

Allen.

For anyone interested here is the latest (Cameron you already have these.)

On 21/6/11 there was a 40 minute outage to my broadband. Mysteriously my evening latency and VOIP issues now appear to have been resolved. Wholesale advised previously to Xnet that they had identified an issue in the "New Plymouth area", but have not disclosed what they found.

Moral of this story. Don't take no for an answer. If you can provide good evidence and persevere you will eventually get resolution. Thankyou to Xnet especially Cameron for humoring me and persevering with Wholesale.

For anyone following this thread, The resoltion to my latency issues occurred when I was migrated to the new ISLAM at Spotswood.

In the last couple of days my synch speeds have increased back up to 100% ADSL1 speeds (7616/896). I had a PM from another person on Spotswood today who said that their connection dropped and came back up on ADSL2+ midnight friday.
I've rebooted my router and it still synchs with GDMT, not ADSL2+ Router modulation is set to Multimode

Hopefilly a profile change will get me ADSL2+ Yay!

Cameronn I have PM'd you. Can you please get my profile changed to ADSL2+

Regards Allen.
