VodafoneDylan: Lots of work happening in the next few weeks. There will be a brief interruption of about 2 minutes for cable internet customers in Christchurch today. Details on Vodafone Community here - http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Network-status/Cable-network-upgrades-Wellington-Kapiti-amp-Christchurch/m-p/188300

As a end user i appreciate the above link with the mentioned upgrades, this type of customer relations / interaction is just outstanding and i take my hat off to you good sir for keeping those who like to know in the loop.

YouTube is terrible for me tonight, having to watch SD because HD keeps buffering. Even with my Max speeds.

After a few night of consistently better speeds things seem to have gone backwards in Island Bay. Varying between 10Mb/s and 25Mb/s.

Also in Island Bay.  70mb/s at 9pm. Congestion obviously varies by location.

Lots of comments tonight so here is some detail

I removed a couple due to test errors changing the scale on single samples like this. The most recent hours will report later tonight when the probes get enough capacity to call home. The lack of many results in the last hour shows how little capacity is available.

TrueNet July 2015 Urban Broadband Report #44

Remaining Congestion

"Cable connections were not congested in January 2015, but along with many other products, became very congested as soon as NetFlix became popular in March.  Evidence from this week's testing, shows congestion has developed to not only include the busy hour of 9pm, but now starts at 8am and continues through to midnight.  We understand Vodafone is upgrading all cable connections to resolve the issue, but this upgrade is complex requiring a lot of visits to local nodes.  Vodafone announced on a forum that is airing a lot of complaints* that the upgrades will take effect in August (90%) / September (100%)."

Just an FYI expect a few short outages during the weekend (10 to 15 minutes) anytime of the day or night as the upgrades continue this weekend and next week

Speed tests are looking decent tonight, but YouTube in particular is still incredibly rough. The good ol' "Experiencing Interruptions?" message is still showing its face far more than it's welcome, and the results still aren't too pretty. The cable network has by far the lowest percentage of HD streams at 9-10 PM, and is even beat out by 60% of the non-"HD verified" providers at this hour.

General web browsing and Internet use is okay, but on-demand streaming video still leaves a lot to be desired. Things are looking way better than they were just one week ago, though!

Ironically, I'm trying to work (yes, Facebook is work since I manage a couple of Facebook company pages) and trying to load a Vodafone NZ page but can't even login:
