Ha, good luck on that.

they should have been doing something for their customers from day 1 of this.

A lot more people should have complained to the commerce commission from when this first started happening

http://www.comcom.govt.nz/assets/Imported-from-old-site/FairTrading/BroadbandGuidelines/ContentFiles/Documents/comcom-guidelinesforbroadbandsuppliers.pdf

because given it is/has been effecting customers for the majority of the time they are at home (give people are at work during the day and they use their internet at night from 5pm to 11pm when the congestion is) i would have thought there would have been a reasonable case for something to happen

The speedtests may give some good numbers but connection to some sites still timeout or just plain slow - Google, Facebook, Twitter, the ones with most traffic.

Also, just received my monthly invoice money-mouth ...

How do you know you're on one of those nodes? A node doesn't just cover a single suburb.

Who advised you ' All will be ok ' not Vodafone as we have made it clear when the planned upgrades will be complete,

If you experience an outage for a couple of minutes this is prep work only!
