Well yes, the very 1st post but not intended to criticize people. just advising people, that if you are not happy with what you have then switch.

As far as I remmember, this post was started to complain about the reception on a beach, but if you cant get my logic then no further comments.

Moving out to a new subdivision north of Kaiapoi soon, and suspicion was theres only the primary tower in Kaiapoi township itself given the low signal (1 bar if lucky) and perferred 3G/GPRS data standing outside the house in the street facing mecca :)

Seems to be backed up by the map here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22487235/Address.html pulled from known public data.

When you enter williams st, kaiapoi and scroll north to see the soverign blvd area at present it shows a st and not much else. Given there are about 2300 new sections planned, do these sort of areas get looked at by the telcos for potential addition of towers, or being out of the main centre do they remain status quo until the likes of the RBI, or other options are applied for by enough bodies.

I'm hopefull that even though only 2 areas are going to be UFB ready and remainder BoF for the time being, that cell networks are still looked at and not overlooked until fixed networks are accessable.

I sorta did yes, and from what I can gather its an extension of current networks using cabinets where possible or localised WIFI towers etc and APs at the home to let you tap in for broadband data extensions?

But was more wondering about the voice side of things, given you get either no service or unable to connect calls (on my SGS (1)) until I disappear down the road a bit and get a few more bars of signal from the local tower :)

Or have I missed something in the reading, and its likely to include its own mini-tower at some point in the future to cover the current black hole (since its not really.. rural or isolated as such but more an very fast ex-pad redzone area expanding township)

Cause the entire subdivision only seems to be listed under final cover/pink zone which is a long way down the track

Sorry not sure how you came to that conclusion to be honest, RBI coverage is just mobile coverage from a normal cell site Voice / data / SMS

6th post in the thread links off to some of the new RBI sites that have recently gone live or unlocked in testing phase
