russelo: if they price it that low, what 3-phone combination can give you $1500?
I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.
Get ready to clear out those junk drawers and dust off those unused handsets! Vodafone today launches Trade-In – another New Zealand first – which allows Kiwis to earn Vodafone value for their old mobile phones to spend on a new handset or accessory.
Todd Hardie, Head of Terminals at Vodafone New Zealand, says Trade-In makes it easy to swap an old phone and use it to save on the latest smartphone technology.
“There are more than 4.8 million mobile phone connections in New Zealand, and we upgrade our mobiles every 18 to 24 months. So it’s not surprising that most of us have at least one unused mobile phone lying forgotten in the bottom of a drawer. You may think these discarded handsets are worthless, but with Vodafone Trade-In, you can recycle – and be rewarded!
“The process is really simple. The value of the handset is based on model and condition – an iPhone 4S can fetch around $450 and a Samsung GALAXY SII up to $250 – and customers can trade-in any mobile from any network, including phones bought overseas, as long as they are on the list of accepted devices.”
Collected handsets are shipped to developing countries, refurbished and sold for reuse on second-hand markets. Those that can’t be reused are broken down into their individual parts and recycled. Vodafone makes a donation to Starship for each handset that is traded in.
Todd continues, “With the introduction of Trade-In, we’ve created a real incentive for customers to bring their phones back when they upgrade, safe in the knowledge that not only are they getting some value back, but that the phones go on to have a life elsewhere.”
