Do take your point, but there is only a ten dollar price difference between those plans. If you're routinely using over the 150GB, an additional 350GB for a tenner seems a pretty decent deal to me. :)

Never would have thought when I started at TCL in 2007 that we'd see the biggest cable plan ever - 500GB - for as low as $89 for 50Mbps/$119 for 130Mbps (Assuming an on-account mobile discount, which, when the plans start at $29 & the discount is $30, seems straightforward to me).

Read this again please. Vodafone increased price on 150GB plan from $95.94 to $139. This means a massive 44.8% increase. I am paying $95.94 and moving to the 250GB plan would be a $54 increase in price, not a $10 as you seem to think.

150GB of cable was $155.95. It's now $79-$139 depending on speed/mobile discount. There were a few time-limited on-contract promotions, and undoubtedly a few retention offers.. but that was the old pricing. The $95.95 pricing was promotional (Although I don't recall how well that was communicated at the time, & people on old plans can stay on old plans) & was done with a manual price override rather than ever being a distinct plan/pricing tier per se.

When the first 25Mbps cable plan came out, it was, if memory serves, $229.95 for 120GB. Things do change, and 500GB of cable at 50Mbps is now $89 w/mobile discount.

As JohnR says, I'm sure plans will continue to change over time - just think this is a pretty solid move, and one of the biggest I've seen in my time with the company/companies. :)

Gary came to clarify because those prices were for public, and some CSR weren't sure existing customers could move to them.

It shows that the prices were not a promotion or special as you imply in your response. They were not one offs but listed prices for customers, new and existing.

Sorry but your reply sound like the confusion piece of old times.

That's the one - Internally it was the same $155.95 plan with a pricing override (Which I recall leading to a few billing errors), but it was certainly available to existing customers as well if they asked. From memory, it only ever intended to be a transitional offer before the new product suite with BestMates, on-account mobile discounts et al came out, but may not have been communicated as such in the 'get in quick' sense - which would certainly have helped a lot with the reception in retrospect.

EDIT: I see it as 'Unless you signed up for a specific plan that was done with a manual override & only offered for three months', the newer plans will offer greater value for less dollars. Really don't mean to offend - long-time cable customers are my favourite customers! - it's probably just a case of internal vs. external perception.

Am sure we'll be able to find something that appeals to sway you over to those new packages in the near future. ;)

Agree im in the same situation as you stuck on the 150gb on the "promotional"(that was listed on there website for a time) price. My bill is $189 with t-box + 2nd decoder and sky sport. If i goto this 500gb 130/10 plan what will my bill be as im not to keen waiting on hold for 30min to speak with someone that has no idea about inhome...

No stunt intended. Appreciated your feedback Mauricio and I agree with your sentiments.

We are definitely working on moving customers from old Cable plans (like your own), to new plans, with all upside. We don't want you to be in a position where your current plan isn't right for your needs, but nor is any new one.

Glad not long now before I move from Cable to UFB which Voda dont even offer (Enable not Chorus). Once again would have been shafted as a cable user after waiting months to finally have the plans data updated. Other isps seem to often double data or equivalent on all plans with a big letter to all saying here is what we have given you, do nothing. I have been hugely unimpressed by the Voda policy to TCL Cable customers which feels more kill it off slowly than make people feel they are still on what was the best product in NZ.

Agree totally with Freitasm the lower $150 was pushed as resign up and get this. It was never "promotional".

I'm pretty happy about this as I am moving from ADSL2+ with 500GB on Telecom to Vodafone Cable on the 20th Feb as I am not in a UFB area until mid 2016.

Hmm well its a few months too late.

I asked VF for Cable + Phone and 500 GB at minimum for a price in comparison to ADSL2+.
They refused stating they do not target large data users.

Ended up on SS unlimited ADSL2+, now SS unlimited VDSL2.

Ironically had the door to door salesmen turn up offering 500 GB and internet (ultra fast 50) for $119.
My partner asked if they can beat what SS is offering us unlimited VDSL2 at $119.

They told her no.. and then asked if we wanted to sign up for 500 GB anyway lol. (Yes we would love to spend more money when we go over the cap...)

Hi Guys,
To cut to the heart of the issue, can you confirm I'm reading this right on this thread the Entertain Pack 250GB will be increased to 500GB automatically for all connections that can use the Entertain Pack and this will happen within the next couple of weeks ? or is this only an assumption.

I have cable and use Netflicks I'll be happy if they do.
