I just looked at my 2008 calander, and the 21st is a monday, so all looks good for rollout about when we see best mate on account and prepay numbers able to migrate to plans. ;)

i just ordered a land line and adsl, drat. This is almost as cheap as many of the other plans out there and the extra bonus is that its mobile.

Actually if you do the math, it's probably cheaper.

How good is VOIP on it I know the latency is pretty high but is it bearable?
Also lol if you use VOIP its against the Vodafone Terms and Conditions.

Not it isn't - the T&C's changed quite a while ago.

I've done quite a bit of testing using my E65 over 3G and have found it very usable even using the ulaw voice codec. There is the occasional breakup and jitter however and the increased latency isn't really a big issue.

In the past the APN selection also made a big difference with your internet speeds and latency and using direct.vodafone.net.nz was the best option if you're wanting the best performance.

But this page here makes no mention of it.

Under the terms and conditions it used to say it excluded VoIP traffic. Now it says

Vodafone does not support Voice over Internet Protocol (voIP), and can provide no assurance that currently available access levels may be maintained.

Looks like somebody has updated the T&C in one part and not the other which is hardly surprising. Vodafone's website is still a hopelessly outdated inaccurate site that should be an embarrassment for such a large company.

I think you're mixing up terms and conditions from different products/services there...

The 3G Broadband terms and conditions are at:

and there's no limit on what kind of data you send and receive.

The other T&C page is the basic T&C for a handful of services. As it says at the top of the page:

If you have applied for our services by completing an On Account, talkZone, talkZoneZero, or Vodafone at work - tolls application form and will be charged in arrears for the Services, you will be an On Account Customer and you will need to review the terms and conditions set out below which will govern the contractual relationship between us.

3G data isn't one of those services.

Okay so just to clarify, I'm using VOIP on my phone(N95) like sbiddle is on his E65 it's not against the On Account T&C's because i'll be using 3G data?

As far as I'm aware we neither block nor care what you use your data connection for so long as it's legal.

It's all just bits on the network.

its already 21/07/07 - no updated news about this on vodafone site yet... is it 21/07/08? bah

not only hong kong cheaper, singapore and malaysia are very cheap too (less than nz$40).. they all unlimited plan

can someone tell me when can i acutally know about this new updated plan from vodafone? thanks

e65 does not use HSDPA right? i use my phone, it has hsdpa supported and i have postive result, as clear as GSM. talk for about 20minutes to 3 diferent countries. i use www.vodafone.net.nz gateway

rite, i would like to read about it first. term&cond etc. a lot easier that way than just show up or talk on the phone. oh well, might check that on monday. hope they have phampelets or brochure for this.

I don't know about the Hong Kong plan but the Malaysian one you link to seems to be GPRS/EDGE only... not HSDPA.

so not exactly comparing apples with apples, are you?

The plans launch on Monday - you can ring the stores now and order it as far as I'm aware.
