johnr: I just called Paul now and the mobile number in the DM to me was incorrect, I got him to SMS the word number to 521 from his wife's phone

Edit: Speaking to Paul the location this happened in is very marginal coverage in building

Hi Johnr.

After speaking to you re this and giving you the correct phone number you said that you would look into the delay and get back to me. I haven't heard from you yet, did you have any luck?

cheers Paul.

Given the evidence here (of being in a marginal coverage area) my assumption would be the phone was SOS camped onto another network, hence being unable to receive messages.

This is something that can (and does) happen fairly regularly, and unless a person is looking out for the "Emergency Calls only" message on their phone they're probably not going to be aware of the issue.
