Dratsab:networkn: You have to be kidding me. After everything that everyone else has posted to you, are still going on about this? Given you won't follow the advice of people with more than probably 50+ years of ISP + Telco experience, just switch ISP's, see if you are any better off.
Assuming of course you are able get a connection with a new ISP. You may find someone else is waiting for a port and as soon as yours is reliquished you go to the back of the queue...
That should be okay if it's a reassignment assuming both providers are using Chorus wholesale, I really doubt it'd be LLU. But good point, if there are port waiters, closing the current account would remove adsl as an option for a while. Port waiters are definitely in my list of "things that are not fun".
In the interests of the original poster keeping connected with whatever company, if you are wanting to move to another adsl provider I would suggest getting in contact with us and asking for your ASID number for your broadband connection. It'll look similarish to 162xxxxxxxx (not sure if they're all the same length or all start with that same sequence, but you know what I mean). Then contact new isp and say "Hi! I'd like to move my current broadband connection to your company. Please reassign my current connection. I understand the asid number is 162xxxxxxxx - please confirm you are able to reassign that service."
