Dratsab:
networkn: You have to be kidding me. After everything that everyone else has posted to you, are still going on about this? Given you won't follow the advice of people with more than  probably 50+ years of ISP + Telco experience, just switch ISP's, see if you are any better off.

Assuming of course you are able get a connection with a new ISP. You may find someone else is waiting for a port and as soon as yours is reliquished you go to the back of the queue...

That should be okay if it's a reassignment assuming both providers are using Chorus wholesale, I really doubt it'd be LLU. But good point, if there are port waiters, closing the current account would remove adsl as an option for a while. Port waiters are definitely in my list of "things that are not fun".

In the interests of the original poster keeping connected with whatever company, if you are wanting to move to another adsl provider I would suggest getting in contact with us and asking for your ASID number for your broadband connection. It'll look similarish to 162xxxxxxxx (not sure if they're all the same length or all start with that same sequence, but you know what I mean). Then contact new isp and say "Hi! I'd like to move my current broadband connection to your company. Please reassign my current connection. I understand the asid number is 162xxxxxxxx - please confirm you are able to reassign that service."

I checked an address near there on CU/BB automated prequalification shows no waiting list.
As discussed above even if there were a waiting list as long as a new provider reassigns an existing wholesale ASID then a port waiter list would not be a problem.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

Lets make one thing very very clear, Speed is not going to change as you will still be connected to the same copper pair running to the same bit of hardware

Edit: You can't request to be moved to a different serving cabinet either

@ OP (without flogging a dead horse)

What will resolve your throughput issue quickly:

  • Moving to wireless RBI with VF or another provider.
  • Moving to satellite or a wireless ISP (non RBI).

What might resolve your issue (long term):

  1. Get in contact with a Chorus case / investment manager. This can be done by emailing Chorus or through reps etc.
  2. Get about 80 - 200 signatures from people (if there are that many) off the same cabinet you are on.
  3. If they deem there is enough demand, they might consider investing in an ISAM or Micro ISAM, in the next budget or two.

What won't resolve your throughput issue:

  • Changing provider - any DSL connection from any provider through the Conklin / ASAM you are on, is going give you the same result.

If RBI is available...

Vodafone sales are not too bad and you can negotiate a deal /  discount or increase in data cap, if you push hard enough.
I would probably go with their RBI as it is proven, has unlimited national calling and would push for a better deal on the data cap.

Sadly he still won't believe you even after 20 other people said the same thing. Some people need to learn the hard way. Incredibly frustrating.

I realize that - But I also want to know this so I have some idea if I were to be able get a non ADSL solution would I likely be able to get back to ADSL if I wanted(yes it could fill up in the mean time - but if its full now I already know the answer for sure). Also If we disconnect our current house and connect a new house on the same property in the near future is our adsl port likely to disappear and go to someone else?

I spent hours, and I mean literally hours over 3 weeks trying to get my brother in laws phone turned back on, passed from everyone who answered my calls to someone else - one even rang me back, put me on hold for 30 minutes then came back and asked if she could help me, incredibly frustrating, no call back if you don't ring on a vodafone cell - they don't work well where I live so no chance of a call back.  Yesterday I rang to cancel the account, I rang at 8;28am and was answered in about 10 minutes so I got quite excited but alas, she put me thru to the cancellations team who did not answer, then she came back to me and say they are busy someone will call me back within 24 to 48 hours - arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh does that mean they are so busy with people cancelling their accounts with vodafone - does not surprise me at all.  IF no reply by 8;28 am tomorrow I'll be ringing the CEO, that is what I did last time and get a reply - funny that !  Going to Spark from now on at least they answer the phone.

Obvisouly I have authority on the account, I am not putting my brother in laws details on this forum, I'll just wait for Vodafone to call me like they said they would and if not I'll remedy the situation.

I spend and have spent enuf time on the phone with Vodafone and am not going to traverse the matter further online - I have a business to run and certainly have better things to do than this.  If someone rings and asks me to do a job, I do it,  I don't ring back 48 hours later.  My feelings and experience with vodafone has been laid out for other users to see.  I'll deal with this my way, thanks anyway.

I understand where you are coming from - ive been there - you prob wont get satisfaction via vodafone's normal channels,  But JohnR does a very good job on here, If you could atleast message your contact details to him, Im sure you will make alot more progress then you have made so far
