They dont want idle connections on their network so the system they have to at least get something per year out of people is reasonable IMO. But they need to do a better job of communication of upcoming expiry. The apps do nothing. No warnings or anything. all they seem to do is SMS the number which may not be in a device that can deal with SMS or be switched on at the time.

I didn't even think of looking there for the expiry date in the app. Wow!!!!

And why would you? If the connection is an alarm, gate etc then you probably have no 'plan' so would not have a reason to look at the section on plans.
