freitasm: It used to be open to all - late comers to Twitter don't have that...

Lies. You can still add your number to Twitter, they just won't send updates. You have to enter a verification code and txt it to the UK number.

Oh, that's what I meant. I though they had blocked new users signing up for the SMS altogether.

So it's still "open" for incoming messages. Use it then...

Texts to 8987 are now being delivered as tweets as of today. Off now to check if inbound is working.

TechnoGuy001: are we just supposed to sit around for weeks waiting for something that might come...

You're free to carry on your normal daily activities until then. Tongue out

Actually, it's currently working, but in test mode. There's no Twitter -> Phone yet, but the other way is working. As long as your phone is linked to your Twitter account, just txt TWTR with a tweet.

When you do the linking (Settings -> Devices, enter your mobile, check the box, click save...) and get the activation code, you can txt that to TWTR too.

Paul mentioned on Twitter that it's free to send to tonight while they're testing.

So lets get this straight, it doesn't cost anything if you activate your phone through TWTR and send tweets to TWTR?

It was free last night while they were testing.. not sure whether they've finished yet.

My understanding is that all SMS's sent to TWTR will be charged at your standard SMS rate. SMS's recieved back from Twitter will be free (as per normal when receiving SMS's)
