johnr: Vodafone NZ has cotacted the company that owns the short code and asked for a please explain before we remove your service

I hope they can come up with some bad explanation, and Vodafone cut their service...

johnr: I have given Kiwipearls a small credit onto the prepay account so she can stop these premium SMS on the condition that she does not enter her mobile number into another website again.

Good job John!

Thanks for calling me today John.  I promise to not enter my phone number into websites like that again.

And be vigilant with my url's.

I managed to get the text back from them after you hung up saying that it has been terminated and I will not receive texts from them again.

So thank-you very much for taking the time to fix this.  1st time ever scammed.  And it will be the last.

I hope they get a big telling off for making a fake You Tube looking site/with similar logo.

Yes.

You have to send the number 4000 to a fifteen digit code that resembles (quite coincidentally) my bank account number.

Edit: I'll PM you a URL as soon as I have a website for this up and running...

Everyone please - repeat after me. "If something seems too good to be true..." well, you should know the rest.

Then it must be a pretty awesome deal?

For billions of years since the outset of time, every single one of your ancestors survived, every single person on your Mum and Dads side, successfully looked after and passed onto you life.  What are the chances of that like?

Cheers- N

Brilliant.  Ty John and Vodafone for stopping these people.  Scamming people into their phone services is just morally wrong.

I don't know how people can live with themselves by doing things like this to people.

As said, good job John. Thanks to our local mobile operators to (finally) taking these scams out of the customers' backs.
