Question: Do these unit's use GPS tracking to position the units like the AT&T unit's do in the USA?

The answer may have been on the previous thread but I didn't see it, is it locked to your DSL connection and is the data zero-rated (like iSky)?

Thanks

ADSL traffic is zero rated on Vodafone ADSL and the unit is not locked to a customers account

So you could use it when abroad for roaming but still be in nz for the purpose of billing?

No, you have to be on a VFNZ DSL connection.

Ok well I see that the DSL (Between the modem and exchange) part is zero rated, but is the traffic between the sure signal and the cellphone zero rated as well or does this use up your data allocation? IE if I have a 200MB a month plan, will this traffic consume my allocated data?

Yes, it will use your monthly data on your mobile plan.

Think of it as a full cell tower. You will get all the services on your mobile from there, and all the limits.

If you are at home then it makes more sense to use WiFi for data (if your mobile is WiFi capable) and use the Sure Signal for mobile (voice calls, SMS).

I guess you could always establish a VPN, it seems like that is what the Sure Signal is doing, it's nailing up an IKE VPN back to VFNZ, but the Endpoint only accepts connections from the I.P of a VF DSL Customer, could always nail up a VPN to your house and route any access to Vodafone AS over the DSL to home first and then you could roam with it....

i live in a area that has no cell coverage and we are with Vodafone for home phone and net.
I'm thinking about getting a Sure Signal how ever i have some questions.

when using that Sure Signal:

do you get billed on your cell phone account for any calls you make at full rate? (from what i can guess you do)
Will Vodafone look at making it as you are billed as if you were using your home phone? (i can see it will be a bigger selling point)
Under what grounds can i return it with in the 14 days?

thanks

In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.

All these questions are already answerd but charging is per normal for your mobile usage. Just think of the Sure Signal as a baby cell site in your house.

You can return the device in the 14 days for any reason even if you don't like the colour of the unit I guess

I decided to take advantage of the $99 offer. Had a few problems with the older modem I was using anyway so figured that a sure signal with a new modem for $99 was a pretty compelling deal.

Set it all up last night. Sure signal takes about an hour or so to initialise - and by crikey - once it was complete - I had exceptional 5 bar service. In fact I hardly knew there was a 5th bar on my iPhone as I barely ever see it - even in the Auckland CBD.

If your home cell coverage sucks (like mine did) - then I can certainly confirm that it works well
