They did put ads on TV, on Twitter, Facebook and we have this discussion here. They did go out of the way to let people know...

The last email in my inbox from telstra is my "HighSpeed Usage Warning". I havent recieved any marketing at all from Telstra. Thats pretty much the avenue I would have expected.

I use MyPad for accessing Facebook from my iOS devices, and task bar client on my mac (integrates Facetime, Google+ and twitter in one stream), so no ads shown there.
NoScript and flashbock take care of ads on pretty much everything else.

... is midnight on Sunday 0000 hours or 2400 hours ?
Do TC mean for the free period to finish at the end of Saturday or at the end of Sunday ?

"any data used over the weekend is free" - they mean midnight Sunday.

I usually understand midnight as the end of the day, not the beginning.

I've always gone with the idea that midnight is always the minute just after 2359hrs so if you call this 0000 or 2400 is doesn't really matter. So in the case of 0000hrs on the Sunday would be taken as the evening time not the morning.

Just my 10.5cents.

Don't you just love human's attempts to divide the continuum of time into discrete units, always makes for fun.

"0000.00 hrs on the Sunday" is Sunday AM; it is the second immediately preceding 0000.01 and immediately succeeding 2359.59 Saturday. If you watch your computer's clock/calendar/whatever you will see that at 0000.00 the day has flipped.

Now, the trouble lies in that "midnight" isn't really 0000.00 is it, it is the infinitely small slice of time between BETWEEN the end of the second 23:59.59 and the start of the second 00.00.00, it is neither Saturday, nor Sunday, nor Monday, it's somewhere in between two of those, it is the instant that the date flips over, before that unmeasurable instant it is one day, and after it is another.

Which two days, we can only know from context. The word midnight as a time specification, isn't a good one really.

Given the context however, we can safely say (in the knowledge that the Disputes Tribunal would surely agree) that they mean that one second after start of the second 23:59.59 Sunday (NZDT) they will resume normal accounting.

It is truely irresponsible of TCL to create an inbalance like this where some are advantaged and some are disadvantaged. It is further pathetic to see so many willing to download truckloads of international data just to stress-test the network.

How about some intelligent thinking TCL?????

Its unbelievable imo.
