sbiddle: Couple of new RBI cabinets go live there soon. No idea if these will replace an existing ASAM / Conklin the OP is on without knowing an address.

I PM'd you.

Had a weird one yesterday.

Internet just fine when I went to bed Saturday night. Woke up Sunday - dead as a Moa.

Rang VF and went through the usual rigmarole and they said they'd send a technician out. About 1600 I had a call on the mobile from the Chorus chap. Said he'd pop to the cabinet first and come up to the house if he needed too.

20 minutes later, a very nice man from Chorus duly arrives at the house, tinkers for a few minutes and fixes the problem - but I am not sure either of us knew precisely what the issue actually was!

He did tell me that the cabinet is now right up to date and fibre fed. Apparently it is throttled back at the moment as they don't like to let it go to full speed from the off!

I can't imagine why ("ooh - don't turn it right up, they'll not know what's hit them! Best to do it gradually so as not to frighten the consumers..!" ;-) ) but I am sure there is a reason.

He said he had made sure we were on the ADSL2 profile and said we would see some definite improvements again when they let it go at full chat.

Top job from the Chorus man on a Sunday which was welcome to see.

The modem also clearly states 'Modulation Type ADSL2+"
