Just noticed on their website that txt2000 will be offered to OA customers for $9.95 on April 1st too. (Sorry if this has been mentioned before).

and it now states...

If you're a You Choose customer, just $9.95 buys you 2000 TXTs a month to other Vodafone numbers

TXT2000 has always been advertised as being to "other Vodafone numbers"

It's the You Choose TXT1000 which is still being advertised as being to 021/029 numbers only. My guess is Vodafone are probably going to automatially upgrade all TXT1000 customers to TXT2000 to fix their little problem. If they do go ahead with this I hope people challenge it with Vodafone as at present you have a contract with Vodafone to provide you with 1000 SMS's per month to 021 or 029 numbers and this new plan is specifically to Vodafone customers only. Vodafone's T&C's say they must give you 14 days notice of any such changes since this is a significant disadvantage as defined by section 22(b) of the Vodafone On Account Terms & Conditions.

If Vodafone start charging TXT1000 customers 20c to TXT a 021 or 029 number that is ported to Telecom from the 1st April they will be breaking the law.

To be honest, and this is my point of view and unrelated to my job, I dont see a huge amount of customers changing straight away during the month of April. There will be some customers that will port straight away, as voiced here, but It's not like half my phone book (or general, non IT savvy public) will be porting in the next couple of months.

In saying that, I do believe Vodafone is going to get snagged on this TXT1000 issue as it does state 021/029 in advertising material. Come 1st April though customers that are on TXT1000 could be migrated to TXT2000 on their bill cycle (with 14 days notice) to solve this, maybe a nice letter explaining why.

Who knows, bring on Sunday (or Monday most likely) for the full scoop

I don't think John Doe even knows he will be able to do it anyway. And most people will be tied to contracts anyway, because that's the direction the operators took in the last 18 months.

I think this will be a big non-event...

But the majority of customers on both networks are PrePay customers, not On Account, so could easily move. The only thing that will make mobile portability insignificant in NZ is the fact both networks use incompatible handsets. If you're On Account and move it's not hard to get a free handset, if you're on PrePay most people aren't going to move when faced with an up front cost to do so. If you look at countries like Australia there are around 20% of customers porting numbers each year, I would suspect in NZ that we will be lucky to get maybe 5% tops within the first year.

The biggest gains on 1st April could be TCL if they can actually sort themselves out. Anybody in Wgtn/Kapiti or Chch who stays with Telecom for their landline when TCL offer cheaper prices is just crazy IMHO.

About bloody time.

I have always argued that offering prepay 2000 txt for $10 and OA 1000 text for $10 is just crazy.

As someone above stated... too little to late..... as far as im oncerned, the damage has already been done, Vodafone have pissed me off so much over the last 6 months.

Who are you referring to?

In any case, I could say the same about your post. It doesn't add anything to the topic so take your own advice and think "is this post constructive to the thread topic"?

I was really hanging out for BestMate OnAccount as rumoured but looks like it was all an April Fools joke!

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Vodafone did promise "early 2007".

Just looked up the letter they sent me in October last year.

It states "Say goodbye to free text weekends, but say hello to heaps of new great offerings coming your way soon"

That was almost 6 months ago and nothing new has been offered, so that letter was a diect lie.... funny thing was, it was signed by Shelley Watson, head of Customer Loyalty.

Shelley should be sacked!
