I am able to send updates to twitter to TWTR but I havent received any updates.

And my devices page clearly says:

Note: We currently don't support sending SMS to this number.

So does that mean Vodafone dont have any control over sending updates to the phone?

Chaks

I believe outbound was being tested, and inbound is still in the works.

Before we get too carried away - it's important to note that Vodafone haven't (as far as I'm aware) actually launched this service yet, they were just letting people in on the testing last night via twitter. So hang tight.

Hi guys. Not sure if the Twitter UI has been modified as I've yet to have a chance to check, but as of a few minutes ago I am receiving direct messages via 8987. Very nice job.

Yes it's official. Twitter now says
Note: In New Zealand we currently only send SMS notifications to Vodafone NZ subscribers.

A temporary message until XT no doubt.

It appears that if you used txt when it was still active, all your settings were saved :)

Now my profile says:

Note: In New Zealand we currently only send SMS notifications to Vodafone NZ subscribers.
And I am able to select from whom I should receive device updates! So I think it should work now. Not sure though.

It's been announced on their blog. Interesting, Aussie doesn't have it yet (haha).
