Is the website address checker working for Naked DSL outside the red zone? It appears it may not be.

So close to signing up for a on contract cellphone + naked dsl plan but have decided to wait it out a month or so.

1) WoW latency issue, seems to be dragging on for a month or so now. Big no no in our household not being able to game, let alone no WoW.

2) Email issue, scares me a little. Not that I use ISP email but the reason behind the failure (going by what I've read) is just not something you would expect from a big ISP.

3) The time frame it's taking for the issues above to be resolved.

Anyway as I've said will give it a month, because it's actually a good offer.

Hi folks. Just sharing my experience.

It turns out Vodafone naked DSL is not available in "rural" zones. The address locator on the vodafone website does not differentiate rural zones but the address for service address locator does.

So, despite living in Pukekohe township and being inside the 10Mbps ADSL zone I am classed as rural. Bummer. No Vodafone naked DSL for me...

That will be because it costs considerably more to provide naked dsl via telecom wholesale to rural areas than non-rural areas. Some providers pass this cost on and have different urban/rural naked plans, some don't. It appears vodafone don't, probably because it would take their current plan set and double it with two prices for each option.

This plan looks so fantastic for what we need! Especially too seeing as one of our monthly mobile bills with Vodafone is $300+

Problem is, they don't offer free static ip addresses!! If they did we would more than likely be on this plan within days!

I'm currently on Ultimate (Red Zone) but never use the phone, so in theory this seems like a good idea. However, would there be a cost to change over? I know a 12 month plan for new customers flags the sign-up fee, but what about existing customers? I'd rather not be locked into a contract if at all possible.
Would there be a downtime while its changed over?
My other concern is how a changeover might affect performance. When I first moved to my current location the speed and general performance was rubbish, but it came right after a month or two. I don't really want a repeat of that.
Is it really worth a saving of $5 a month? Are there any other benefits from not having the phone line?

You won't be locked into any new contracts when changing to naked dsl plan and the change is free for existing fixed line customers.

There is no reason why the plan change would affect your performance - it's the same as before, you just won't have a landline.

Also, why not just sign up to a $30 mobile on account plan and then you'll get $30 off your naked dsl plan.... in effect making the mobile plan free.

Maybe I'm worrying about nothing. Good point about the mobile too, been thinking about getting a new phone. Maybe its a sign.
