Vodafone's marketing partners. They got together and being fans of all things beautiful (and 2 out of the 3 I know of are big Mac users) decided to congratulate Vodafone in their own way.

So I would believe Vodafone NZ wouldn't have exclusive rights...

I think its fair to say, judging from all the speculation, and the obvious signs, that the iPhone will be 3G and not exclusive to any carrier...but until this is confirmed, we wait in anticipation...

Here is a link to 'confirmation' of the iPhone being 3G - in Italy

This has to be good even for early iphone adapters I hope..

Can we assume this will mean visual voicemail and all the other features we currently miss out on should vofafone choose to implement? And also support... repairs and issues would become mainstream?

I actually think I will upgrade hopfully to a 32gb 3g iphone... (hopping) and sell off my current iphone.

Just a thought, If I were Telecom and wanted to pull people to my new network the iphone would of been the killer drawcard forsure!
But I understand the contract with Vodafone is bigger than wee NZ :)

Not sure on benefit of repairs on gen 1 iPhone as not legitimate item in this channel/region. Rumoured to be a different shape/size to gen2 Also they are typically return/exchange and not repaired by local service centres. Would be a question for Magnum Mac.

It looks like the Vodafone deals aren't exclusive anywhere, Orange Belgium and Poland just announced that they are going to have the iPhone as well.

From what I read Jobs is expected to annonce world wide release of the 3g iPhone during the WWDC on 9th of June. Probably release official SDK at the same time as well. Wonder what sort of deal Apple made with carriers to distribute it in all the countries. I would expect to have a some sort of data plan to go with the 3g phone.

@MattD: can't see why it won't be supported.

I don't know more than anyone else, will get that out of the way quick. Amazing cone-of-silence at work, unheard of. No matter how many people I try and sneak answers out of, no-one knows anything.

My guess though; can't compare NZ with other parts of the world as we don't have the 5-6 carriers all using the same technology. I'd say us at Vodafone will get it first and perhaps have it "exclusive" until early next year when its every man for himself. I think trying to have it as exclusive over the Christmas period would be a real downer for telecom and if I was in charge then thats what I'd have tried to negoiate. That a free ones for all staff

I might consider buying one when I am back in the country.
My sister can't wait buying one if it is 3g and they have a good data package with it.
I am not paying $29.95 a month for only 200mb.

Are they planning on having a better camera in the new model, I would not like the idear going from a 6MP in my N95 to a 1.3MP?

The existing camera is a 2.0MP which takes pictures as good as, if not better than, the 3.2MP camera in my N73. It's not all about MP.

However, yes, I do see your point (and I can probably go as far as to say I don't think you will be disappointed with the new model).

I just realised this means that the iTunes Music Store for NZ will need updating to include the iPhone-specific content (ringtones, etc.). Hopefully, this will be done in time for the NZ launch rather than us having to wait for a year or two.

Being done for all countries with iTS officially getting the iPhone. Scheduled date to be done is 2 June.
