And looks like Vodafone have just updated these to offer family plans - add up to 4 others on the same plan for half price. Eg, start with a Medium/$60 plan and add up to 4 more Medium plans for $30 each.

Each plan gets its own allocation of data etc. In classic fashion, there is a catch - can't be done online and can't make changes to the plan eg add interest free payment or the discount drops off.

The offer looks really good, will be interesting to see if Spark revise their offers as well as 2degrees

Im thinking of going back to prepay and adding the music pass, because spotify is almost all my usage and once at the limit it is slooooooow when its syncing downloaded playlists and stations. My car alexa often takes 10+ seconds to answer unless I kill spotify off.

Yeah, a great value option for family or a group of good friends. Considering it for mum and I actually - both currently on Vodafone.

It certainly will. 2degrees obviously yet to refresh their core plans to include endless data (just on the $85 plan still). Both Spark and 2degrees offering group/pool plans as a fixed rate addition to a 'lead' plan, but sharing the inclusions of that lead plan rather than getting their own.

For me the new plans are actually more expensive. Not everyone wants endless dataaaaaaaaaaa. Thats what I have WiFi for. I pay less with the old Red Share than for these.

Check the costs here https://www.vodafone.co.nz/red-share/ and you can see that this is an increase with less overall data 15g drops to 12g and the price per use is higher. If you never went over already offers zero motivation to change. So yeah, nah.

Interestingly that $99.99 Red+ share plan is in fact still available.

But how can it be less overall data? This is a) endless and b) 12GB of high speed per line where as the $19.99 Red Share only had 15GB overall to share... yes higher price per user but you are getting more for those extra $ (whether you would get use/value out of the extra you're getting is a different story).

Honestly endless data is the way of the future - saves any hassles with allowances running out or overage charges.

Likewise, new plans are more expensive for us. We are on the $99 red share 40gb plan which includes a free sharer. Once we add on 2 more users (total of 4 users), we are sharing 40gb for $140 per month. The plan also included a free Vodafone pass, zero rated Spotify etc means a significant data saving. Hence endless data for us would be of zero benefit.
Even if we dropped down to the 12gb per person plan, it’s still going to cost us $10 more per month.
