Ruphus: I also had VOIP setup on the HG659 with 2Talk this morning. I configured the router for ADSL and thought I'd have a go setting up VOIP. Followed my nose using the old HG556a as a reference and bingo. Worked fine. Now that I've been switched over to VDSL, it's no longer working.

Should have never worked with ADSL or VDSL with another providers VOIP. Its hard coded in to register solely to the Vodafone servers.

Had 2talk working perfectly on my hg556a.  Just bought my ATA today from 2talk.  Sucks that I had to outlay another $135 when the functionality was just sitting there.

Ouch.
I am not going to get an ATA. Still got $50 or so credit...

That is reasonably expensive for an ATA.

The Cisco SPA112 seems OK:

http://pricespy.co.nz/#rparams=ss=SPA112

For anyone setting up the SPA112 I had to set manual DNS in the ATA. I am not sure why it wouldn't pick up the DNS server in the router but it had me scratching my head for 20 minutes.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I was surprised to see in Telephony > Line Status that the number I had setup was "Online". Also checked on the 2Talk portal and it showed my line as being registered.

Anyone have any further luck on their hg659 and getting 2talk or VoIP in General to work?

My spa 2102 is not that reliable with this voda modem. Seems to reset itself.

Tim. Noticed also that when I logged into my uptime was 18 hours. However I have not switched off the modem since installation on Tuesday. Will this affect dlm? I am waiting 10 days before I put in the call to VF for poor line speed. The technician didn't install any cat5 on my naked bb so I suspect the very old telephone line he piggy backed on is part of the reason. I know I will be told to wait 10 days if I call now though.

Hi Guys,
With the Modem, I know its got capability for having a USB HDD plugged into it, is there a way to get a Printer connected to the modem like the previous models?

I ended up connecting my old modem's WAN port to the new modem, therefore continuing to use the old modems VoIP ports.

Really, really happy with the VDSL speeds I'm getting...

I had VDSL installed about 3 weeks ago and was supplied one of these routers.

All works well except the 2.4 gig wifi channel randomly stops working with an authentication error coming up on devices trying to connect.

Re-entering the wifi password has no effect. Happens to all devices using 2.4 gig simultaneously.

Turning off and on the router or going into the router and turning off the 2.4 gig wifi and back on again solves the problem.

The 5 Gig channel is unaffected. The 2.4 and 5 gig have different SSID's (but use the same password)

Firmware is V100R001C206B013

Anyone else having similar issues?

Similar problem here. VDSL installed 12th Feb. Getting good internet speeds 50 down and 8 up with Huwawei 659, but recurrent daily problems with Wi-Fi. HP printer, Compaq laptop and blu-Ray recorder all lose Wi-Fi at least once a day, but Samsung TV , Apple TV and Mini IPad unaffected. Have been in touch with very helpful Vodafone support, but router reported as being in good health. Only solution is to reboot when necessary. Considering whether to leave all devices on all night or switch them all off! Same Firmware.

Not sure if anyone has had this problem with an HG659 modem/router.

I tried plugging a USB hard drive into the HG659 and configuring via the web interface. It seemed to be easy but then the HG659 restarted, and then restarted again, and then restarted again.

I pulled the USB hard drive and all was good. The hard drive is fine when connected to a PC and was working with the previous Orcon Genius modem/router. I haven't bothered plugging it back in for 2 weeks as I want the DLM to try and get more speed from the VDSL connection.

Any suggestions?
