SightUnseen:
lugh: I just realised this means that the iTunes Music Store for NZ will need updating to include the iPhone-specific content (ringtones, etc.).  Hopefully, this will be done in time for the NZ launch rather than us having to wait for a year or two.

Being done for all countries with iTS officially getting the iPhone.  Scheduled date to be done is 2 June.

Still no movies and tv I'll wager.  Although Au speculation appears to be rife that they'll be getting some sort of tv deal signed by the end of the year.

I might be stating the obvious here, but I would be so stoked if NZ got iTMS video content :D

I wonder what the price will be through vf? US pricing is $199 for the 8gb and $299 for the 16gb. With the current exchange rate if vf charge more than $275NZ for the 8gb and $399NZ for the 16gb then we are being screwed.

Look forward to seeing what the retail prices/data packages will be. If the prices are similar to above I'll definately be getting one.

Keep in mind the US prices ($199 and $299) are subsidised prices on a new AT&T 2 year contract

The main question for me is whether the new 2.0 firmware will be unlocked by default, or whether Apple will still keep up the pretence that iPhone 1s are only being sold in sanctioned countries...

Wouldn't VF be under obligation to retail at a set price just like AT&T does in the US?

Also wonder if the phone would be locked to VF as they just recently declared that it would not be locking handsets anymore (for now).

Did Steve mention that it would be US pricing in 22 countries?  Missed the keynote but will check later.  Also there are 23 countries on the site http://www.apple.com/nz/iphone/countries/ maybe this is relating US + 22 countries

Live from the WWDC:

The price is US$199 in all markets (so says Jobs)

Do we have any official word from Vodafone on:

1) Device Locking? Is it locked?
2) Contract?  What is the contract?  What are the terms?
3) Will Vodafone support visual voicemail?
4) Will Vodafone support the A-GPS functionality?

NZ is getting it on July 11th, along with the rest of the initial batch of countries.

Hopefully Paul will provide some further details today to the public. It will be very intersting to see just how much per month you are going to have to pay.

Steve said that the 8GB would not cost more than US$199 in any of the 22 countries.
