Elpie: It's not always just about the plan. Vodafone customer service from their stores is appalling and call centre service is variable (to put it politely) but their people here and on Twitter just can't be beaten. 2Degrees service when phoning seemed a lot better by comparison. BUT, I'm very happy to be back with Vodafone. The deal they offered wasn't great but was adequate. I'm paying a bit more than I was on 2Degrees and I don't have rollover minutes or shared data.
What I do have is a service that hasn't failed yet, where connection is reliable, where SMS messages get through, and coverage in areas that were dead to me before. The not-so-obvious benefit is that my phone battery lasts a lot longer. I suspect that's because my phone is no longer switching several times a day between a network and roaming.
Sometimes, you just have to weigh all the pros and cons and take the option that best suits your needs. I'm glad I tried 2Degrees as it was a worthwhile experience to find out what the coverage was like and if it would work for me. It didn't and I'm happy to be back in the Vodafone fold. An adequate plan that you can rely on beats a great plan thats not always available.

Dingbatt: I see in this morning's paper that Vodafone are offering $19 50/5000/500 prepay extra. But only until 31 October. Christmas offers will cut in after that I assume. Not enough to tempt me from 60/5000/500 I'm afraid.

Anybody know how to access this new prepay extra plan?
nzfatmatt: Also don't know who'll want to be on teh Prepay Smart 25 until end of October. $6 more and 200mb less.
ibuksh: "No carry over if already on"..
Thats sucks..
Is this the case with the 2degrees and Telecom plans as well..?

Telecom "The BIG Value Pack is only available until 31st October 2012. If you top up the required credit each month at your renewal date, you can keep the BIG Value Pack on an ongoing basis! You can cancel it anytime."
So Telecom carry over. Vodafone are only doing it for 2 cycles really then. I come off plan 2 Sept, so have 2 Sept, and 2 Oct then it's back to the dungeons for me!
ibuksh:
Make the switch now to telecom or 2 degrees..
I was with vodafone a long time and I know the sense of loyalty to the company kicks in sometimes.. but you have to look at your pocket as well.. you dont wana be stuck paying more and getting less after 2 months..
